Movie Rewrite, Take one!
I just thought this would be interesting.
Instead of refferring to the TNG era, let's focus on the late TOS era.
If one were to rewrite Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, how would you do it, placing the Empire in the Klingons' place? Now let's not make this a ship to ship frag fest, it has to fill at least 90 minutes (figuratively).
What would take place? How would Kirk react to the Empire? Assuming he was just informed of them from Starfleet Command.
The most legendary crew in Science Fiction History is up against the most feared force in the universe!
Please try to keep the original plot to the movie for a little while. But after we get to around the middle, feel free to twist it however you see fit. Let it end up like Mike Wong's fic (Starfleet under Imperial control) for all I care.
But describe an epilogue as well, although the movie itself has none.
I just watched TUC and I thought it would be interesting. Kirk inviting an Imperial Admiral to dinner on board the Enterprise-A. What a thought...

(P.S. Im not sure if this belongs in the fanfic forum or not. It's still Star Wars v.s. Star Trek, but I wasn't quite sure, so I just went with this forum. Please move it if it has to be moved.)

Guess I will have to settle for being one of the board's most prolific and aggressive pro-Trek debaters instead (thanks Mike).
Mwahaha. I love my squeaky Trekkie.

A very interesting idea, Nemesis, I LIKE the idea of TOS era Kirk having dinner with an Imperial Admiral to try and hammer out a peace. I don't mean to be a tease but a scene very similiar to this will be taking place further on down the road in this little story I like to call Star Crossed.
But to answer Bean's more direct question. I think that Kirk would find a way to deal with the empire, I'm not saying he would single handedly defeat them, but he would use some extremely unconventional strategy to counter the massive fire power disadvanatge coupled with the fact that he has a real crew with real charcater development and skills it could prove to be a great big Thorn in the Empire's side
I don;t want to say too much because the ideas I do have as to how Kirk deals with the empire are slowly being played out elsewhere...Sorry Bean you won't weasel any plot lines out of me...but you are a clever tactician, appeal to my vainity to get me to spill the beans...OH what an AWFUL pun.

Re: Movie Rewrite, Take one!
Isn't it rather difficult to substitute the Empire for the Klingons, since the whole plot of ST6 was the collapse of the Klingon economy and their need to sue for peace? Even if the Empire was in dire straits, I can't see them suing for peace with a group as small as the Federation. A shrunken version of the Empire, perhaps?Romulan_nemesis wrote:I just thought this would be interesting.

It's a bit of a shame that we never saw Imperial officers in their native element, ie- relaxing off-duty. We only see them on-duty, and usually quaking in terror because Vader is stalking around. It would be cool.I just watched TUC and I thought it would be interesting. Kirk inviting an Imperial Admiral to dinner on board the Enterprise-A. What a thought...
