What's the point in debating other than to debate?
Is anybody ever really converted to one side or another in these lenghty debates or, take the first What's the point thread, despite having the facts on our side, was anybody who was already set in the false opinion convinced that the Feds are not actually a bunch of fascists? So I pose the question, is there a point other than just enjoying debating?

Yes, it may be true that nobody is going to change their mind about the Federation and the Empire, but so what? It's always fun to see SW won in every Versus argument hehe.
Before you, pitiful trolls, invade this forum take note that:
Mr. Bean will not fear using his irony agaisnt you.
Sir Nitram will burn your idiotic arguments.
Grand Admiral Thrawn will generously dismember your illogical thoughts.
Master of Ossus will bash your stupidity.
And if you are still alive, DARTH WONG WILL CRUSH WHAT'S LEFT. You have been warned.

I have seen or heard about 1 or 2 people who changed their minds,
However since no one seems to be able to sit down and debate and figure out true figures without it turning into a slanging match we will never know.
The main problem is that the two best sites for info are pro wars and thus a pro trek message doesnt get out.

People do change their minds from a debait, as I am one of them.
I used to think that ST would kick SW's butt, until I came across the famous "I WANT YOU!" website. Star Drek, is like many ultra left ideas. (From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.) This sounds wonderful, until the ugly side shows. How will this be achieved? What will happen if we do get what we wish for?
Arguement, and influence are not the same, though the goal is the same. To change the beliefs of others.
Examples:
Arguement: Do not touch that, it's hot. SSSS! Ouch! Do not touch that again, it is hot, you will be hurt again.
Influence: if you do/don't do this, then I will hurt/kill/love/reward you.
Belief is changable through both. Which tactic do you use, and which tactic gets the best results?
Even if you lose an arguement, like weight lifting for the mind, you become stronger.

Well, remember, Star Wars spans only about 8 hours of footage (discluding Eps 1&2), it'd be easier to keep track of things than Star Trek which spans hundreds of hours of footage, dozens of years in the making and hundreds of years of timeline. Of course they're going to get something wrong from time to time, but they do tend to invent new things that contradict other things all in the name of a new storyline.
I love Mr. Wong. I jack off to his picture every night.

The problem with star trek is Voyager.
TOS - All about Kirk being heroic, brotherhood friendship etc.
TNG - Morality and the Human condition.
DS9 - A view on current Society and then finishing up with a few seasons of war.
Voy - Techno talk and .. no just techno talk.
Voy is where it went of the rails in a big way DS9 was woobly but Voyager was a train wreck.
