Unless it was a from a grenade or mine that went off > 20 metres from them, it is extremely likely that such information would be useful, assuming they had protection of any sort. And if they do detect it, chances are they all die a couple seconds later.

Huh, i opened a topic??

Anyway, i have to apology that i didnt read the annoucments. My fault.

To the Tricorder picking up the gas thing...
The Tricorder would first pick up the Missile fired, then (after the hit) the Gas. Which would be a tad too late i suppose.

Well this " mystical" Skin sealing stuff sounds cool. Any canon evidence for it? I never saw it. But, it dosent sound right, Because it would mean Red Shirts would be at least a bit capale of doing anything ground warfare wise.

For the Antidote (as far as it could be called this), goes into the upper leg muscle area. Even if you could stab the Injector into your heart, you would die from this injection.
Remember, a specialist would be a great choice for this (with the PROPER antidotes), But the specialist would...
1. lie besides you reaching for his own injector so he can save himself
2. be some klicks away, and not near the fighting in the MBZ.

Conclusion, every Soldier needs a more or less reliable way to counter any form of gases by himself. And as soldiers are not fully trained lunatic medics, who like to stab a 20cm injector into their own heart (gee), they go for a muscle which has a good flow of blood (btw ass is fine too, as long as you hit the muscle).

The Federation does have suits that they could use for this type of protection but sense they are large bulky and difficult to put on. Thay also do not reguarly deploy them and they are pratiaccly impossible to carry on a person. See TUC for the suits I am referring to.

That was disapointing ..Should we show this Federation how to build a ship so we may have worthy foes? Typhonis 1

When I was in the army the ABC (Atomic,Bio,Chemical) orientation instructed us to pick up one of the autoinjectors from the RIGHT leg pocket inject it in the leg and put the spent cap in the breast pocket.

Is the Bioantidote into the heart a brainbug from the us media?
While I doubt it originated there, a lot of people think it goes in the heart because of the movie The Rock in which that is stated to be the case and one character does it. Of course, the injector shown also is a manual hypodermic syringe with a huge needle that would pierce straight through your heart.

The brainbug could be older than that. The first on-screen depiction of somene taking a needle to the heart that I know of was in Pulp Fiction. In that scene they were adminstering adrenaline to a woman who'd OD'd on heroin, but it seems like a good place for a "inject lifesaving medicine into the heart" brainbug to start.

She was, but she mistook Vincent's Heroin for Coke and tried snorting it.

Ah. Yeah, that's a shitty idea to snort heroin.

It's actually a fairly popular way to use it, you just don't take as much of it as with Coke since Heroin is much stronger and much easier to OD on.

Hey, ST's got innoculations for radiation. Don't know how they managed to do it, but they do it.
