What-if situation, could the Feddies pull it off?

This should be rediculosly easy for the feds. They would have to let Earth and another important world, say vulcan, fall to the Empire, then send in five star destroyers blast the occupying forces, and then jump to vulcan and do the same. Liberating these two immensly important worlds should count as a major victory in a major battle. I assume that their will be a fleet about on par with what attacked nal hutta.
