Five ships right there. If we include this Enterprise, it's six. Odd.
Oh, and I absolutely hate the beginning of the show. First time I saw it, I missed the text that said 'Enterprise' and thought it was a documentary about space travel.

How Trek sexuality has fallen
Berman and Braga's idea of what constitutes "sexy" is simply pathetic. To be brutally blunt, the anorexic pixie type is simply not appealing on any level. Neither doth silicone substitute for real looks. Kinda makes you wonder about the weird psycho-sexual dynamic which must be operating in the production office.Master of Ossus wrote:Everyone just thinks it's unfortunate that T'Pol is the one who is constantly sexed-up.
Yes, that pretty much does sum up that whole episode, doesn't it? Probably the first produced television script to have been written entirely one-handed.I, incidentally, loved the firsttvdrama.com episode review when they summarized an entire plot with the statement that, "T'Pol has a dream she gets laid."

Before anybody says it was a fake ship, even the morons in Voyager would've thought something was amiss were there something wrong with Dauntless NX-01-A.RayCav of ASVS wrote:And about that, how do they rationalize "USS Dauntless NX-01" from the VOY episode with the slipstream drive?!Ted C wrote:If he actually said "NCC-1701" somewhere in his request, then they're save. I know they like to fuck around with continuality in regards to TOS and even TNG, but VOYAGER?!?! That's "Berman's Baby!" You figure they'd keep continuality between at least VOY and ENT straight!
My god, my opinion of B&B sunk even lower, if that's possible
Now, while logic would say that this meant that NX-01 was called Dauntless, B&B can just use the universal loophole: It's not a Federation ship.
No.. but it is a Starfleet ship.. even though Starfleet isn't supposed to exist yet.. and in any case, they have one ship! What Starfleet!

Given the absolute contempt with which they hold the early federation and starfleet (for not being PC enough); they likely don't know or care much about early UFP history. Before anybody says it was a fake ship, even the morons in Voyager would've thought something was amiss were there something wrong with Dauntless NX-01-A.
And this is Voyager the biggest transport for morons ever devised. It's the 23rd century equivalent of the short bus. Why are you suprised that they would do something absolutely, incomprehensibly stupid?

Oh, but you forgot. Voyager doesn't do "continuity". That is for other, lesser versions of Trek to worry about. Voyager just is.

Scott asks for the Enterprise. The computer tells him there have been Five federation ships (note ships, not starships just ships generaly) with that name. They just aired (cable-ed?) Enterprise last friday. Funny they showed the episode about the gland-fluid-harvesting aliens, then the 2-part pilot episode in sequence (maybe I was watching the repeat, I dunno... usually on some cable channels they repeat the same programming every 6 or 8 hours)
So far, what I've seen, I think it rocks. These are the high points:
- Polarized Hull (no clue what it's supposed to mean, but probably kinda like magnetized or so)
- Tow cable
- Ejection seat in polyhedron ship
- Polyhedron ship has an actual flight control instead of silly flat buttons
- Decontamination room
- No uber-transporters
- Submarine-like torpedos (and launch procedure) - also the way it was deflected by the organ-harvesting ship (it bounced)
- Sucky sensors (also the part where the bad guys were pattern-bombing UP to find the Enterprise, direct analogy of a submarine)
- Foreshadowing(TM) room: I just KNEW there was going to be some raygun-dodging there.
Low points:
- Phasers (why oh why... in fact why not simply use a Magnum .357, plasma bolts where nice 'tho)
I don't care much about continuity (as a requisite for enjoying a show, that is), I'm enjoying it for the nifty FX and the retro tech. If they start inserting too much future tech (like phasers) I'm really going to hate it - it's supposed to be retro, dammit.

The battle style sucks. It is supposed to be submarinish, but the way it's depicted, including the look of the bloody ship, is an insult to every submarine alive.Slartibartfast wrote: - Submarine-like torpedos (and launch procedure) - also the way it was

As for that Decontamination room - well it would've been more logical to simply equip their away-teams with envirom.-sealed suits, but B&B the old horny bastards just took the opportunity to show some st00pid crewmember rubbing around T'Pol's breasts.

Personally i don't like Enterprise that much. To me it's a bit boring. The major down point is the intro. Thats just lame, especially the music. Bring back the orchestra. The only decent thing i like about ti is that people have different accents, harkening back to the good old days of TOS.

I loved the earlier PLASMA weapons, but nooo, get rid of the real guns for that over complicated toygun from hell.

I think the phase pistols of Enterprise are kind of cool (except for the ol' Trek dodgable beam thing) but I was disappointed that as soon as they broke out the new weapons we've never seen the plasma weapons again. In a later episode they say they only have a small number of phase pistols so why wouldn't some of the crew members end up packing the plasma weapons?
