And then, in Fanfiction dreams, the Galactic Empire invades the Milky Way, and the Earth Empire becomes a favored vassal, eventually incorporated as the capital sector of the new colonial galaxy.

So warm and fuzzy...

Wait a minute, back up the B&B Train, just when did the Romulans come into the series? Please tell me it's a joke. Please tell me that Enterprise is nothing but a bad dream of mine. Somebody pinch me quick, and hard.

I kind of liked the episode but it looks like it messes with continuity on at least two points (cloaks and the Vulcans say they haven't met them yet even though they supposedly fought a war prior to 2072) while keeping one (they didn't show what the Romulans personally looked like).

Personally, I think the main reason for putting the Romulans on Enterprise was as a push for Nemesis since it's coming out soon.

So I can't cancel it, and I can't reboot it from scratch? OK, there's only one option left to improve the series (bear with me):
  1. the Federation encounters a new, deadly alien race.
  2. After a brief but glorious show of resistance, the Federation is defeated (gasp!)
  3. After years of valiant resistance fighting, they manage to defeat their alien overlords.
  4. They switch to much more rugged starship designs and they build a mighty military organization which crushes their alien oppressors in a brutal act of vengeance.
  5. They begin a campaign of aggressive colonization, expansion, and conquest.
  6. In the final episode of the 7th season, they reveal their new logo: the militaristic UFP logo from the TOS episode "Mirror, Mirror"
Yes, this was actually the mirror-universe Earth Empire all along. That's why the continuity is fucked. Bwahahahahaha!!!!
You forgot the part about Vulcan females turning into wild sex-machines after being introduced to anal sex.

This is of course in the spirit of TOS which pushed boundries for it's time. Wouldn't you agree that this would at least be pushing them a little?

I would get rid of the Romulans, bring back the TOS-style Klingons, restore continuity, eliminate all technobabble, make the ship look like a proper period ship, etc. And I would dump the annoying Vulcan. I think we've all had more than enough of the "fish out of water" Trek cliche; surely they can find some other goddamned axe to grind.

And, oh yes ... bring back the miniskirts for the female crew :)
Star Trek as it should be. After all, wasn't TOS what made the rest so popular? DS9,Voyager, and Enterprise are just coasting by on fanboy inertia.

Make the show into more of a crime-solving, political thriller sci-fi show in space. No technobabble, no worrying about whether the technology works or not, no half-assed rehashes of old TOS, NG, DS9, Vyger plots, characters and crap.

In the background, SF Command is slowly building support for a coalition of near Earth planets. Enterprise helping out only reinforces planets to join this "Federation".

As the final seasons approach, other rivals (Klingons, Romulans then enter the scene full-scale) become aware of the potential danger of such an alliance on their borders. Then the aforementioned transformation from peaceful, helpful Enterprise to militaristic organization of Kirk's time takes place.

:P Good one. Archer discovers that he's actually Dr. Sam Beckett, and the only way to leap out is to destroy the ship after vaping all the opposition...

Although I should point out that IIRC, the Vulcans were the first to be conquered by the Terran Empire, and they later became a partner in it. (Which would fit the national character of Enterprise Vulcans, wouldn't it?)

Actually, this has been done already. DC Comics had the license to produce Star Trek comics post WOK. They had a story arc where the mirror-universe tried to invade our universe. The point of divergence between the two universes is the Earth-Romulan War. In the mirror universe, Earth lost the war and was occupied by the Romulans. After ten years of occupation, Earth drove the Romulans off, and then went on to make sure no one would every do that again.
