-the Empire's flagship was taken out with 4 torps and a wayward A-Wing
He's still touting that lie? I showed him in a previous thread that it was a minimum of 10 shots from the A-wing. What an asshole.
In an unprecedented turn of events he actually conceded the number of torps was indeed 12 (after I shoved the stated screencap down his throat several times).
And now that I think about it, I can recall him bringing up DS' site, but after we shot that down he stopped (probably since he'd already had altercations with several of oyu guys regarding the same matter).
He keeps insisting that Star Trek has better leadership because they won all their wars in the end

They won the Dominion War because godlike beings wiped out half the Dominion fleet AND Odo convinced the female shapeshifter to surrender AND Weyoun was stupid enough to send every guard to deal with an uprising allowing 4 people to march in and capture Dominion headquarters via brute force. All strokes of good luck. The Empire was never THAT stupid as to keep only four troopers to defend their headquarters.
They LOST the Klingon War after the Enterprise-C screwed up the timeline to start the war, it's just that most people don't realize that because Picard changed the timeline to prevent it from ever happening in the first place
Master of Ossus wrote:That's absurd. What the hell do they think DMJ has been doing?
They perhaps believe that he is defending his "opinion" on the matter. They fail to understand that the debate is objective and simply showing your opinion matters not.

And there was much rejoicing.

DMJ flames left and right, and one little plea bargain and DM reduces his sentence to 24 hours!!!
This is insane. For ONE flame, Dark Moose gave ME a permanent ban, and hasn't rescinded it even after I made a public apology on the forums.

[pointouttheobvious] And so, he both shoots himself in the foot and admits his stupidity. SW Lasers hurt things, Light doesn't hurt things, therefore, SW lasers are not lasers. Simple enough?[/pointouttheobvious][/i]

Tell him he should start a magnifying glass versus ants thread.
Better to make it more obvious. He might conclude the ants are just scared of the light and curling up instead of frying. Tell him to use the magnifying glass on his toe as absolute proof

My experiment for him would be to go stare into a search light for a few moments and report the results.

He's been unbanned. Dark Moose gave a warning for that thread that caustic behavior will not be tolerated, so it's even more difficult to chastise his stupidity. Fortunately, they're doing character arguments(which I refuse to take part in) right now, which isn't a hot topic (unlike technical arguments).
The atmosphere in there is a bit too friendly, in my opinion.
Damn. You know, one of the 4 Horsemen or someone should organize an "SD.Net Imperial Strikeforce", deigned with crushing Trekkies, creationists and others by invading other boards and getting banned in a blaze of glory.

It was called the Anti-Idiot Invasion Force. It is gone now because other boards tend to not appreciate it, causing SD.net to be invaded right back. Some of our members (myself included at times) do set out to other forums to do this occasionally, but it's frowned upon in the rules and the board isn't about to sponsor it.

Discussing ideas is fine,
And that's exactly where that sentence should end, as far as I'm concerned.
I don't care at all about the substance of your debate - seems pointless to me. I also don't care who's winning or losing, or who doesn't realize they are losing. I care about how you people address each other.
You're off the hook for now. DMJ, I think you need a little time to revise your debating tactics to exclude talking about your opponents.

Fuck him. He banned me for discussing someone's ideas and then complaining when he deliberately mis-quoted me.

Dark Moose is just being grossly unprofessional and inconsistent. Nothing new. That's the problem with using kids and fanboys to moderate the webboard on a big-name high-profile website (frankly, I can't understand why they do that; you'd think they should hire more mature, older adults; it's the official starwars.com website after all, not just a personal hobby website like mine).

I think the main problem isn't the moderation staff, it has to be the insane rules that straightjacket the debates. I think the sw.com posters look at the debate as a 'which one is better' disscusion. To be bluntly honest, I don't miss the place one bit.

The inane rules are certainly part of the problem, but the moderators themselves are ridiculous. I cannot believe what sorts of bullshit they put people through. The level of discussion is consequently inane, since the mods only enforce the rules when it suits their higher purposes (and are grossly inconsistent about doing it when they do).

The problem is, they see your average fanboy poster and think all message board posters are like that. So, they think its no use being picky.
