Right. Those are from "Descent" [TNG], when Lore leads some drones that have broken away from the Collective and gotten smart. You'll also notice them using cover (packing crates count as cover), running, ducking, etc.--things we've never seen from genuine, Collective drones.Lord Revan wrote:Those are Lore's Borg (they're not part of the Collective).Rogue 9 wrote:1:30 to 1:36. In that case, might I suggest "Love is a Battlefield" to preserve the Benatar motif.
Although "Hell is for Children" might work better, music-wise.

In terms of Trekmiss 2, we're pretty much talking the accuracy of ST main characters, right?
And WTF was up with that ridiculously slow beam that evil Admiral guy fires that Picard dodges- it was moving slower than a paper aeroplane, it seemed.

Why is Riker such a bad shot, anyway?
It's Rogue, not Rouge!

He seems to inspire a heck of a lot of bad-shooting, too. That bit with the Romulans shooting at him as he "runs" for cover behind a slightly more distant pile of rocks was particularly egregious, although his work against the Reman boarding party was god-awful at best.Rogue 9 wrote:Why is Riker such a bad shot, anyway?

Yeah I could have, but there's a point where you'd rather go out on a high note rather than continually beating a dead horse!Vympel wrote:Running out of music eh? Is it possible to loop it?

Very much so. Although a regular Trekkie will tell you that between the shots I edited, the characters do finally score a hit, it simply makes them on par with stormtroopers at least. Note in the SW movies, more often than not the main characters always hit what they're aiming for!
Why, that's a lightspeed phaser beam, with auto aiming to boot, you fiend! And WTF was up with that ridiculously slow beam that evil Admiral guy fires that Picard dodges- it was moving slower than a paper aeroplane, it seemed.

The second time i watched it i noticed some of the lyrics correspond to what's shown if you use your imagination:
You come on... you don't fight fair. -Reman Boarding Party
See if i care! -Picard is shot at as he leisurely climbs and emotionlessly returns fire
Knock me down... i get back on my feet again. -Famous scene of Worf knocked over by a Ferengi beam
My lipstick case. -The Borg are pansy fighters
Put me in my place. -Inept Klingons
Only occurance of "Come on!!!" - single worst example: superslow beam dodge

Robert Gilruth to Max Faget on the Apollo program: “Max, we’re going to go back there one day, and when we do, they’re going to find out how tough it is.”
What would be interesting would be to see if there were so many bad shots in the Enterprise (new) series. I would be interested in seeing whether or not the MACO's are any better shots than Riker, I can't really remember a lot of firefights, although one Rikeresque moment does pop into my mind, episode where a couple MACO's can't hit boarding Xindi at point blank range (it was the one with the alternate universe where Archer gets infested by brain bugs and we see the Enterprise's bridge being blown off in an alternate future, finally they shoot at the fucking bridge).

That was a slight upgrade to .avi that was on the board for a little over a year. The .rm one is the only one that remains because the board crash wiped out 2 years of updates. I have the .avi in my files, so I s'pose I could put it back up.Ace Pace wrote:Uh, then how come I have a reguler .avi version?Lord Poe wrote:Its in RealMedia format, unfortunately. Dude! Hey, did y'all notice the episode with the parasite bugs that had infiltrated starfleet? When some big admiral guy shoots his super uber slow motion phaser beam at Riker and Picard, Jean Luc even has time to dodge in the wrong direction, then go back and dodge in the right direction before the beam arrives

Lord Poe, not only was that both hilarious and damn useful at the same time, but the choice of music was quite simply inspired

It seems a bit unfair to use the tommy gun incident. It's not like that is likely to have autoaim, nor is it a gun Picrard would be formally trained in the use of.

Interesting sidenote: Given that he's unfamiliar with the weapon AND the scene is basically supposed to be Picard going HULK SMASH! WAAARGH! on the Borg, one wonders why the Captain actually does the SMART thing, namely firing short bursts as opposed to going garden-hose, as evidenced by both the intermittend muzzle flashes AND the glasses on the bar.NecronLord wrote:It seems a bit unfair to use the tommy gun incident. Well, could be part of his training with weapons. Conserving ammunition and all that. He could be smart enough to conserve ammunition aka use pulse phaser rifle, without being familiar with ironsight (does a tommy gun have one or is it hipped gansta style all the time?) or the idea that its easier to control the recoil with short bursts.Batman wrote:why the Captain actually does the SMART thing, namely firing short bursts...

Well. He's played the holonovel before. Presumably he knows the basics of a tommy gun.Batman wrote:Interesting sidenote: Given that he's unfamiliar with the weapon AND the scene is basically supposed to be Picard going HULK SMASH!
