You have got to be kidding me.

Vader : If you piss him off, get your head cut off by a lightsaber (if you're really lucky), or get yourself force choked. If you're really unlucky or if Vader wants to make a point, he'll order BDZ of Earth or DS Superlaser -- but hey at least its quick, if he was going to BDZ or superlaser Earth, he would do it even if you didn't piss him off.

Khan : If you piss him off, get tortured, get your throats and wrists slashed, bleed to death, or if you're really unlucky have a mind controlling slug slide through your ear and scream like Chekov and betray your friends and loved ones.

Not even a contest.

Plus, you know Khan can bring his own tongs.

In terms of a villian who does anything to get what he wants, its cool.

Neither Vader or Khan would be cool unless you were talking about them in context of a villian. One hand you get a mass murderer, and the other you get a... uh mass murderer..

I completely disagree, I could easily see myself sitting down with Khan at said BBQ and discussing the future of humanity and how genetic engineering fit into it. I could talk to him about how fat and arrogant Kirk is and how the Federation is doomed to die a slow and painful death.

But Vader??? I don't see him being approachable under any circumstances.

Kahn really does have cooler lines...so do his toadies in addressing him; "Yours is the..superior"

But Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith, just has far to much going for him, as his full title demonstrates amply.
He tortured the hot piss out of his own daughter, for fuck's sake! Only Emperor Ming comes close to that one.

As to having them over for a cookout, wouldn't Vader's mask get messy? Does the mask come equipped with a sippy straw so he could have a Margarita, at least?See, that's my theory why Vader tortured Solo at Cloud City, he was pissed that all that lunch was in front of him and he had to wait until he got to his hyperbaric chamber onboard Executor to chow down.

The exact same could be said about killing a bunch of poor scientists.

In the end their acts aren't exactly anything to write home about, so we weigh in what parts of their villiany we enjoy seeing as villains.

Villains are, uhm, villains. They don't become cool for their charity work.
If you had to deal with a real-life situation involving a real Vader or Kahn, "cool" would be the last word you'd ascribe to them.

Actions: Commandeers the Federation Flagship, is defeated.

Later, once his wife dies, he commandeers the Reliant, and murders everyone who was working on the Genesis project. Mind-controlled Chekov. Almost succeeded in killing Kirk. Participated in a space battle where he crippled the flagship with a destroyer, then got SPOCK killed after he commited kamikaze in attempting to kill Kirk.

Vader has not reached the same heady heights of badassery as KHAAANNNN!!!!

SOme folks are talking about Kahn crippling the flagship. Let's remember that it this point the Enerprise is a training vessel. She's nowhere near what she was in TMP or TOS. The Reliant at least was an active duty vessel and probably more advanced than the Enterprise as I believe she is a later design.

The point is Khan had the balls to do it, and knew his opponent well enough to know that he wouldn't raise the shields. Khan was a good judge of character.

Unless Reliant has a lot more hull armor than Ent, or the Ent somehow had its hull armor "weakened" because it was a training vessel, I don't see how it being a training vessel makes a difference. Even if the Ent had been fully staffed, Kirk still wouldn't have raised the shields, the Ent would still have been hit "exactly in the right places" and the phasers and photons would still have been disabled. And Kirk wouldn't have raised the shields (that is the point, thought I'd mention it again =).

Indeed.

The Relient appears to more of a light cruiser or pocket battlecruiser rather than a destroyer. It was a later design, a design that with refitting was able to still be in service as late as the Dominion War. Then it could be called a destroyer but only because the cruiser got bigger. The Wing Phaser are suppose to be higher power than the Phasers on the Enterprise.

True the Enterprise was no longer the fleet's premier vessel and it was being crewed by cadets and trainees. Imagine the drubbing Kahn would have gotten if he had stolen a Klingon ship rather than the Relient.

It wasn't too much later that the Federation were practically ready to deploy the Exceslior.

Vader for sure...I'd invite him to the BBQ just to Force flip the goodies on the grill. Stick that in your ear and wrap it around your cerebral cortex, Khan!

has vader ever been shown to use force lightning in any of the EU? if so it'd be a helluv a way to start up the grill.
