So basically Worf didn't know what the beam was, He certainly didn't call it a CUTTING BEAM, so basically I could be correct, however you could also be correct!
Yes, thats right. When Worf explicitly says "a type of laser beam" DMJ thinks its can mean "I don't know what the hell it is"

Oh for fuck's sake, anybody who thinks that gigatons and gigawatts are the same is obviously either a lying shitcake or dumber than a sack of fertilizer.

After dividing 4.184e18 (for 1 gigaton) by 1e9 (for 1 gigawatt), you get 132.67 years.
I (got) 66.5 years though.
See what I've underlined, he 132.67 years is assuming 1 gigaton/1 gigawatt, simply divide by 2 for 200 gigaton/400 gigawatt.

He did conceed that gigawatt and gigaton are vastly different, so I suppose there maybe - just maybe - there is still some hope for him left.

That would probably be the FIRST thing he's ever conceeded in his years of debating SW vs ST.

In my analysis of the enemy, I would say that Mike's reflection here adequately describes our enemy. As such, I believe that he will be immune to reason, and therefore should be smacked around with a sack of 100% all organic fertilizer.

So here goes:
*cracks knuckles*
*deep breath*

*****

The Enterprise was hit by 400 gigawatts of PARTICLE energy. Now since Turbolasers are 38.6% plasma by composition, and put out 200 gigatons per second (in the case of the Acclamator), that results in the equivalent of 986.4 gigawatts per second (divided by the 0.17 seconds it takes to fire a shot) that results in 5,321 gigawatts of plasma energy (because the TL bolt is comprised of roughly one-third, give or take, plasma). Because plasma energy is in a much higher energy state than standard particle energy, it will have much greater thermal effects against the target. If 800 gigawatts of PARTICLE energy can cause thermal damage to the enertprise, then think of what almost ten times that amount of energy carried by PLASMA would do. The higher energy state of the plasma alone would result in severe thermal burns to the Enterprise, possibly enough to cause immediate dissapation of the ship into sub-atomic particles (plasma energy has a tendency to do that when it strikes a target at almost the speed of light, which TL bolts do. Note that I said almost, because we can still see the green flare of the bolt, which means it can't be travelling at c.)

Also keep in mind the Acclamator is a troop transport, not a purpose built warship, like a Star Destroyer is. As such, I wouldn't be surprised if a Star destroyer didn't have much more powerful weapons, like able to fire into the 60-70 Terrawatt per second range. That would really put a damper on the ol' enterprises' day!

*shrugs*
I think that's enough BS for one sack. If anyone wants to send that to him just for shits and giggles please feel free with my blessing. You can even add a few punctuation, grammar, spelling errors to it to make it more mimick his illiteracy if you want, I did see a few.

And I recall someone telling me I need to take a more subtle pseudo-science approach. To that person I apologize, subtlety is not my strong point, unfortunately. So I concede we're fighting fire with nuclear artillery, but that's half the fun
