No. At this point, Loan is hoping they'll let him write the next one, and he was just hinting at ideas he has for another one if they do.

What's the Goddamn point of a prequel series if you've got characters from shows set in the future running around? Jesus on rye. Is this what they're considering new and exciting?

I think you've forgotten who the producers of ST are now.

My capacity for cynicism has been temporarily overwhelmed. I just can't believe anyone being paid millions of dollars to be creative--that is, getting a check with six zeroes on it to sit around and dream up shit to put on TV--would think that this idea is any good. In the entire TNG series run, how many TOS interactions were there? How many interactions in DS9 with TNG or TOS characters (not coutning Worf and O'Brien)? I've got nothing against a show like that in principle, but it should be a once-in-a-series-run special treat, not a fucking plot device. Boobyprise already blew it on that craptastic Ferengi episode. Urg. Between Nemesis being as bad as I feared, Firefly being cancelled, and the state of Enterprise, I just can't deal with it anymore.

In order to make the serie exiting you must have exiting characters to do the job. Compare the characters from Babylon 5 or TOS to Enterprise and you can see the difference. The characters in either B5 or TOS are alive and kicking while the characters in Enterprise are acting like boring zombies.

Braga.

I never considered the degradation of product of Berman primarily. Rick has always been consistent with his episodes, and they've always been entertaining. It's Braga that's making the franchise collapse on a technical level.

Berman delivered many excellent episodes by himself during the days of TNG. Berman kept delivering nice storylines, and rarely messed up continuity (mostly because in TNG, there was little continuity to screw up). That's why he was named producer by Roddenberry, he constantly kept his artistic abilities, and his Trek knowledge interwoven.

Braga was even a good writer at one time. He wrote "All good things", which was brilliant. Braga's disregard for continuity seldomly got him in trouble for the same reason as Berman, no much to screw up in TNG. Braga is more centered on ratings and contemporization, hence why is was hired as co-producer of the latter seasons of Voyager (Anyone see a correlation between when Braga joined the staff, and when the Voyager's integrity died?)

Then the two of these men were teamed together, in the latter seasons of Voyager. When Voyager ended, and plans for Enterprise began, who better to lead the newest series into the new millenium? B&B! In theory, it should have worked, but Brannon overshadowed Rick, and took more control. Braga's success is still evident, even in Enterprise. Having written "A Night in Sickbay", it's obvious he's finally trying to avoid the technology, and continuity of Trek, by replacing it with innovative, comical stories; a bad choice.

In conclusion. I firmly believe it's Brannona Braga at the head of the destruction of Enterprise, not Rick. The only writer who seems to counter-balance Braga's ineptness in the series, is Chris Black. At least Chris attempts to create science-based episodes, space phenomenom, and enforce continuity. But can Chris outweigh Braga (and his pet Berman)'s idiocy in writing the series? Not bloody likely!

You mean to tell me Enterprise has characters? Wow. I learn something new every day. :D

Seriously, B&B Trek doesn't have characters in anything resembling the traditionally-accepted meaning of the word. Instead, it has humanoid boxes that do whatever the plot requires but have no fundamental personality, ability to learn, background, or intelligence.

(With the exception of personality and background, B5 'characters' are rather similiar to those of Enterprise, but that's a topic for another thread.)
