However it does mean that any system they build will likely incorporate most, if not all, of the same elements as a KDY designed system. In other words the two are close enough that unless we want a 30 option poll we might as well consider them one and the same.

Point taken. And getting a system fortified in a complete package by Kuat Conglomerate Enterprises or something like that (Hrmm.. "The Kuat Trust"?) would certainly give you a great many options...

My solution to system defense is to blow up all the planets with my Death Star, then load the chunks onto transports and hide the ships inside gas giants and asteroid fields all over the galaxy. Just try to get my planets now! Muahahaha
