Notes on a few of the species
Notes on some of them for those who may not know.
The Breen
Energy dissapation weapons, killed the Defiant
The Hunters
I assume you mean Hirogen, powerful ships, strong people, it's all good
The Kobali
The Sikarians
No real power, just a cool long range transporter from their own planet
The Vaaduar
900 Year old tech
The Voth
Huge City ships, could deactivate Voyagers weapons, personal cloaks
The Caretaker
Dead, but could relocate ships "From all over the cosmos"
And Species 8472
Can destroy planets with fighter craft

The Hirogen are divided into small nomadic hunting groups, and they would have a negligible effect on the grand scale of the war. Also, 8472 can't destroy planets with mere fighters. They don't even have any fighters. The planet destruction required a special ship. And since they only destroyed 8 Borg planets in a 5 month war, despite their stated intentions of wiping out all life, it seems that it's also no easy task which they can do at any time they want.

8472 clearly stated that they were trying to wipe everyone out. They showed no signs of actually wanting to take territory, only to destroy what they perceived as threats to their own. If they could wipe out large numbers of worlds, they would.Gandalf wrote:Life and planets are quite diffreent things

Seven : They were the only species to offer true resistance to the Borg, they destroyed millions of Drones, Hundreds of our worlds.
I can also explain the low death counts in that one attack (that cost 5 worlds but only 4 million drones) - the Borg have some sort of escape transporter fitted to their cubes so its possible their colonies also have such a device - meaning the Borg can evacuate fast.

You are presuming that every "destroyed" world was disassembled. Many worlds have been destroyed in the various SW EU novels, but few of them were actually disassembled.TheDarkling wrote:Seven : They were the only species to offer true resistance to the Borg, they destroyed millions of Drones, Hundreds of our worlds.
Or they have a lot of outpost worlds, which seems like a much simpler explanation. Besides, Borg reaction speed is far too pathetic for that (even if we go with your assumption that every drone on every planet is fitted with a transporter of many light-years range).I can also explain the low death counts in that one attack (that cost 5 worlds but only 4 million drones) - the Borg have some sort of escape transporter fitted to their cubes so its possible their colonies also have such a device - meaning the Borg can evacuate fast.

Im not saying the drones are fitted with a transporter just the planet, Borg from Wolf 359 made it back to the Delta Quad - thats 70,000 LY or so.
You are right that they may have been outpost worlds but doing the math we end up with worlds that have less population than ships can carry.
8 planets destroyed. 312 vessels disabled. Four milion six hundred twenty one Borg eliminated.
I cant remember the average number of drones on a cube but I know they can head upto the 100's of 1000s.
Lets say each cube has 10,000 drones (anyone got a more accurate figure?).
Now 300 times that figure gives us 3 Million drones. that leaves 125,000 per planet which isnt alot at all (considering tha Earth had Billions of drones (this world was assimilated though its possible these worlds being destroyed were colonies setup by the borg instead of taken over)).
The above also assumes the ships destroyed were all cubes which they maynot have been however of the engagements we saw only cubes appeared.
Given the take it takes for the PK beam to destroy a world (15 seconds or so) the Borg could easily get some drones to escape using whatever long range transporter it is that they employ.
Just idle speculation for fun of course so I understand it being frowned upon

Are you suggesting the Borg have transporters capable of traversing that distance?Im not saying the drones are fitted with a transporter just the planet, Borg from Wolf 359 made it back to the Delta Quad - thats 70,000 LY or so.
A simpler explanation would be that the Wolf 359 Cube had a sphere or scout ship that they sent back (goodness knows why, damn bad writing).
You're forgetting about the Unimatrixes, and using Earth as a precident it's probable that they have a number of capital planets with high populations, but the majority of planets look to be sparsly populated (I don't think the Borg really have much interest in populating many worlds, in the Alpha Quadrant they didn't conquer small outposts, they scooped them up).You are right that they may have been outpost worlds but doing the math we end up with worlds that have less population than ships can carry.

My point exactly they scooped up small outpost yet they make their own? its a bit odd and its not like the Borg have tactical planning.
Do they have transporters to cover that distance? well we know subtrans can cover lightyears what about transwarp transporters (wouldnt have to go for the full distance just to hte nearest ship).
Sending a ship back makes little sense - First Picard would have known about it and second the Feds should have seen any such vessel leaving.
I did have another theory but it has even more holes so I tend to ignore it.
