The size is more a result of excellent engineering, the architecture will have both ups and downs when you consider both the awe inspiring towers and the seedy alley ways of lower Coruscant.

Coruscant is actually one of the most realistic, despite the multi-kilometer tallness. Look at the buildings. They don't all look the same and don't all have the same motif. This is realistic. After all, a city is built over the flow of time with different architects and different designs. This makes a city look sort of like a patchwork. You'd expect a city to look like it has a large variety. Besides, I love big cities. I'm very much an urban person and I love the energy that cities have. Coruscant has this energy that none of the other planets really have besides possibly Bespin.

Unless of course there are zoning laws in place restricting designers to a particular motif in their structures. A good example is Jerusalam, all buildings have to be faced with limestone or at least look like they are. Even the most modern buildings in the area still fit into the looks of the older structures on the city.

No votes for Nar Shadda or Modern Earth, I see. Can't say I'm very surprised.

City-planets are awesome, and Coruscant is a great example of one. The Jedi Temple I especially love.

City Planets may be nice to look at, but certainly not that great to live in. Just imagine NYC or San Francisco 1000x more crowded and busy and you will start to get the idea of what it is like to live in one giant city. If it were a choice between Alderaan and Coruscant I would definitely prefer Alderaan. Nice open spaces are nice.

Has anyone gone into the actual structural issues of the architecture? Sure, it looks nice, but is it useful?

Really bad.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Maybe, but you'd think more cosmopolitian cities and worlds wouldn't have such archaic restrictions. Of course, with the case of StarWars, it's entirely possible that many planets lost many cities during the civil war that formed the Empire, so the buildings were thrown up at the same time by a group of designers, so they'd have a similar feel, but on cities that hadn't been destroyed and had been their for centuries, you'd expect some difference in buildings.
