So first you say you couldnt' deal with a military life because you hate hardasses. Then you come back and say you did it. Very inconsistent. Given the fact you have shown yourself to be full of it by making false claims in the other thread, I will call bullshit here too. Don't you see though, you are being called an idiot, and a liar because for the same reason you wouldn't go into the Navy is also what the Army practices. Would you even dare to question an officers orders in front of everyone? Assuming they don't break any laws.

That I have trouble agreeing with. It's not like the ship gets boarded a lot...

Did anyone else snicker their a**es off when Jellico was walking around using Data to back up his demands for how quickly his assignments could be completed?

I remember the first signs that Jellico would be a cool captain. He dedicated two bridge monitors to defense and surveillance, IIRC, and ordered that they be manned at all times. Then he ordered Picard's fish to be removed from his ready room . I always imagined seeing it mounted on a new paperweight....

I think Tom Paris from VOY would make a good captain. I thought he seemed like a young Kirk.

Paris doesn't yet have the discipline to be a good captain.

I've never said riker wasn't wrong for questioning Jelico's order. So quit trying to act like i'm so terrible and evil.

We first saw the Maquis IIRC in DS9's "The Maquis". There was a TNG episode that aired at the same time which also featured the Maquis. Its the same episode where Ensign Ro defected to the Maquis.

Did we not seem them before that in TNG, when Lt. Ro the Bjoran became the 1st Starfleet officer to defect. and in an episode before that when the colanies were 1st consceded to the cardies?

Actually "The Maquis" aired couple months before TNG's "Pre-emptive Strike", which was the first and last time we saw them in TNG. There were couple TNG episodes which dealt with the Fed colonies in the DZ, but none of them involved the Maquis.

My vote for the best post TOS era captain also goes for Jelico. I just watched the "Change of Command" and loved that guy. Too bad we never saw him again in DS9, because he would have been an excellent guest star.

I think Jelico recignized that its best to prepare for the worst and then do your darnest to make sure that it dosen't happen, but if it does.....

I think Jelico recignized that its best to prepare for the worst and then do your darnest to make sure that it dosen't happen, but if it does.....

Sure but you'd think you would let the Enginering staff DO all the modifications he wanted to get done first, THEN take the staff away to security if you want to.

Frankly, against the TNG era Cardasians (as opposed to the DS9 era ones who appear to have gotten some upgrades from the Dominion), a Galaxy Class starship has very little to fear in terms of getting boarded, even IF it takes on a fleet of Galors. In The Wounded, Maxwell with a Nebula class (without the warpod even!) was utterly smashing Cardasian ships left and right without breaking a sweat. When a Galor opened fire on the E-D early in the episode, with its shields down and totaly unprepared, it literaly didn't scratch the paint, and Picard fired 3 phase shots and disabled it.

On a Galaxy Class ship which tends to have its core blow up if you so much as sneze at it, I'd prefer the extra staff to keep the ship in good shape then more security staff to defend against highly unlikely boardings....

I liked it when Data was acting Captain of the enterprise. Worf kept questioning Data's orders and then eventually Data ordered Worf to the captain's ready room and chewed worf's ass.
Worf got his act together after that.
