Anyways I pick fed. Can't beat getting something for nothing. Besides if you wanted to just join one of the illegal organizations if being lazy does'nt suit you. Do normal fed citizens have holodecks? If not maybe you can program a replicator to make holodeck parts using bootlegged replicator patterns

scratch the last one. Living under morons would be horrible. Then again how do we know that what is depicted on screen isn't the worst. Perhaps the average fed member is more intelligent.

In a society where they test scientific theories by launching things toward popular civilian colonies without so much as a test run (see TNG soliton wave), the stupidity of the people around you could very well be fatal.

Err rephrase that. I mean having relatives die is a bad thing, while personal harm is irrelavent since when you are dead, nothing matters anymore.

So the culture does not even has the primary definition of a State (according to hte Sociologist Weber) - A monopoly on the legitamite use of force. The culture is not a state. It is utter Chaos. It does not protect it's citizens from harm. Indeed according to Banks the culture Mind's view humans as something between Pets and Parasites.

Would you really want to live in the culture?

Just because the Fed are stupid doesn't mean it is a bad place to live in, and if you are of average intelligence, you can easily manipulate them to do your bidding.

Even if you don't, you'd be hold in high reguard just for just having common sense.

Just give a suttle craft and enough time, and I'll deliver the UFP to you.

Transporter clone backups, computer exploitations, superior ship designs (when I obtain a ship yard).....etc

In OR or Empire, you'd be dirt and always dirt, possibily on the reciving end of 200GT.
