I wonder how more advanced the parralell universe where the Federation was really an imperial empire. Anyone remember that TOS episode where Kirk, Bones, Scotty, and Uhura and their alternates were mixed up in a transporter accident? I wonder how well the alternate empire (in Voyager time period) would do against the Imperial Empire given this 100 year warning....it would be cool if they revisited that alternate universe again in the future, but I don't think they ever did or ever will.

They did in some DS9 episodes, but the Terran Empire was gone (boo! boo! ) replaced by that bonehead Klingon/Cardie alliance (boo I say! )IRG CommandoJoe wrote:I wonder how more advanced the parralell universe where the Federation was really an imperial empire. Doesn't that mean bearded Spock's prediction of the Earth Empire disintegrating with 200 something years was wrong? Spock's not infallible, but Spock shouldn't have been over a hundred years off.

I THINK that was the prediction for how long the Empire would last if it remained on it's current course of oppresion, nuking planets and being generally nasty.Darth Yoshi wrote:Doesn't that mean bearded Spock's prediction of the Earth Empire disintegrating with 200 something years was wrong? When Spock took power he changed the Empire into a namby-pamby Federation equivalent and they got crushed (way to go, Kirk), so he didn't have to be right.

Oh, that's right. I just didn't think bearded Spock would've actually acted on Kirk's suggestion.

Alas we see the results of a "successful" pacifist movement upon a formerly miltarily-superior society.
Hmm, you mean if we just treat everybody nice that we used to have as miserable slaves and say, "It's all good," then they'll say, "Aw shucks, we knew y'all were kind-hearted folks after all, so we'll cut you some slack, and can't we all just get along?"
....funny how that never works.
