Akira, I've proven that a single ISD can obliterate a Sovereign with one shot even using the TMs. And I've proven if an ISD shields were only that of a old transport, over a hundred Sovereigns would have to fire their torpedoes dry to kill it.

All I have ever siad is that if the Empire were to attack the UFP, they will not find it as easy or as fast as everyone here thinks. I have not said that the UFP would win. The Empire would win in an all out war. It will just not be the week -> month long war everyone here keeps saying.

Depending on either low or Mid range yes you have it either way wrong, Low end one needs 20, midrange one needs 2000 and high end one is quite fucked

However Akira thinks diffrently, Says you need 2 but does not back up why

Which is why I'm being rather irate with him

You know, even if a Sovereign can take 1000 quantum torpedoes (or the yield of EIGHT GCS torpedo loads) and even if we use the TM's 128 megaton figure, it still can't take a single 200 gigaton TL or 200 000 megatons.

And even if a Sovereign has 1000 torpedoes at 128 megatons, it'll take 125 Sovereigns firing their torpedoes dry to penetrate the 16 teraton shields of a 20 YEAR OLD TRANSPORT.

I am goin to Trek for a moment. I'm not sure if any of you heard this but if Qt or PHt could go .9 c it would break thru the shields with Gigaton kentic energy. anybody please disprove me.

ISDs VS SSD, Three Rammed the SSD just out of Hyperspace(Meaving they are moving as close to C as possible)

We have never seen anywhere near this capability on a ST ship. They MIGHT be able to reach this relative speed against another ship flying towards them (at about .899999 c), but at observed ST relativistic speeds, they have nowhere near that kind of KE. Just watch ST:VI, when the torpedo tears through the saucer section of the Enterprise, does NOT explode, and does not even slow down. Considering that we have, on occasion, seen some ST ships survive hits to the hull with exploding torpedoes, that does not bode well for ST's infamous claims of speed of light torpedoes.

Incidentally, never have I seen such abuse of the burden of proof fallacy.

I'm sure it has been used before, but I have not yet seen it. It is, however, closely tied with many Trekkie range estimates that have come up before, so I've attacked very closely related arguments.

Where did you get this from oh wait I think I just remember it came from ESB book or something. What I'd like to know is what the situation was. Was SSD just sitting there or was it coming out of hyperspace?

I'd point out in Destiny's Way the Falcon got bombarded by near-lightspeed moving plasma projectiles (each "plasma projectile" from a coralskipper masses several kilograms, as mentioned in REbel Dream/REbel Stand.) IIRC they have 4 cannons... If we also keep in mind that the Vong in general use much the same weapon (Need we contemplate what the capital ships employ?) and we don't see ISD's getting swiss-cheesed by macroscopic, relatavistically moving projectiles on the first hit. (Errant Venture, anyone? There are others.. the Erinnic from Agents of Chaos duology, Stackpole's novels, and I believe Star by STar). The only exception I could think of is the Rejuvenator from Vector Prime, and that ship was destroyed more by the ground weaponry (not to mention having it shielding ripped away)

Either way, that photorp ain't gonna do much, even IF we assume its kinetic energy exceeds its offensive yield by order(s) of magnitude.
