Trials

Post by Grand Admiral Thrawn »

The article of Admiral Janeway's trial got me thinking.

We should have our own trials.

It's simple. We shall suppose for a moment, a character from SW or ST has been caught and put on trial. Memebers shall serve as defence or procecutors. Here are the basics:

1. Defedent suggestions should be PMed to me. I'll choose the most interesting. A few at a time in seperate threads will be done, then after a break, some more. Send REAL suggestions. Palpatine is one. Ensign Nameless isn't.

2. There shall be up to 3 defense and procecutors. The person who made the suggestion automatically gets a position if he wishs. The other 5 will be chosen. Send PMs. The first and best will get to be. The ones not chosen but sent PMs get the next trial.

3. The trial shall be 6* posts by each though it can be stopped earlier.. 1st Defense shall debate 1st Procecutor and so on. 1st can't debate 3rd.

4. This shall be a trial by jury. After the trial ends, a poll shall be created. It shall run for few days. The people choose guilty or innocent.

5. Charges and rebuttles MUST be backed up by proof. "I read/watched where Character X killed 10 trillion is some book/episode" is not proof.

6. Comments should be made here. Suggestions to the Def/Pros should be PMed to them.

Thoughts?

*open to change.

Let's do this thing. I hope to be PMing much more in the coming court cases.

Any SF personel will get the chair for sure, and where will you get three pro trek people here?.

The trial of non SF and SW people should be good however, got a time frame for when the games begin?

I will happily defend a SF member if I think he is not guilty. I really don't think that everyone in ST is immoral. I also don't think that everyone in the Rebellion is moral, or that all Imperials are immoral. There will be moral and immoral people in any organization. That is a fact, but the trials here assess guilt. And not every SF officer has committed a capital offense (or, indeed, any offense).

Most SF officiers done things that seem completely stupid but are by the Fed regs - see the Sisko thread everyone is saying leaving DS9 intact was an error but he cant be found guilty on that point.

Interesting idea. I'd watch/participate/vote/execute.

Is the Vader trial s Republic, Empire or Jedi court? They've all got a case against him for it.

The first one seems open and shut, the second one however could be a little more interesting.

Fasinating idea. I am too ignorant of the court system to actually partcipate in the events, but I'll watch, be amused, and vote the poor slob to the chair. Unless he/she has enough evidence to back him up that he isn't, which might get my soft spot and I'll let him go.

But I'm out for blood

By the way again, great idea GAT.

Perhaps the 3 procecutors should represent each?

That's not a bad idea but it's not like there's anyway he can defend himself against the charges from any of them. Well you might be able to make a case for the empire being an illegal government and therefore no treason but I doubt it would work.

CAN Vader/Anakin truly be tried if Ep III has not come out. Without Ep. III the defense is denied some of the extenuating circumstances GL may come up with for his descent into the dark side.

All that Ep 3 could prove is that the empire is an illegal government however at present we dont know if it is or isnt.

The New republic would find him to be a war criminal but im not sure they could call him a traitor.

The Jedi could only find him to be a traitor since he slew most of them.

Can you really do the Jedi? Obi-Wan and Yoda, pretty much chief Jedi, forgave him.

I don't think I'm qualified. I'd be happy to point out some helpful hints to both sides, though.
