The "ol beam a photon torpedo" riff.
I know it seems logical but have they ever done that on Trek? I mean haven't they had enough shows and movies that if that was a valid solution to
a problem they would have done it by now? Why fire torpedos at all if you could just teleport them into contact with a target. Instead of wasting some of the matter/antimatter reaction as fuel just use the entire payload against the target.
Can a transporter actually teleport matter & antimatter without any problem. It seems to me that would be pushing the limits of the systems of TNG era transporters. Have they ever even transported antimatter by itself?

Does anyone want to point out that SW fighters carry heavier weapons then a Soverign class does (190 MT concussion missiles vs 129 MT Quantum Torps), or do I need to register and do it myself?

I love this. He indicates that Mike is biased, but brings up no evidence and in fact later admits that he knows his science (thus, ruling out his original claim of bias). The site is ran by an engineer named Mike Wong. He's arrogant, HUGE BIAS for Star Wars, and has an abrasive personality, but he does know his science and considered one of the best there is on the net for analyzing the science behind science ficton. I recommend going there.

Well, when you're diced into atoms you would kinda die ya know. It happens when your brain is turned into so many bits and pieces.TheDarkling wrote:Just because Mike knows his science and maybe right on some issues doesnt mean he hasnt got a bias, its just a question of if that bias affects his results (Transporters kill people anyone?)

Not another "evil transporter" argument. I've seen enough of those.

It isnt a simple cloning procedure though something travels from point to point meaning that the person never really "dies".VF5SS wrote:Well, when you're diced into atoms you would kinda die ya know.
