A Soverign-class starship vs. a single Z-95 Headhunter

Post by Drooling Iguana »

I think that this is about the closest ST ship vs. SW ship match-up we can hope for.

All depends on if the Headhunter carries Photon Torps. Torps and missiles + manuverablity are what give SW fighters a chance against ST cap ships

Z-95 Headhunter vs Soveriegn, Round 1
Soverign fires Phasers
Z-95 Headhunter is going to fast, and the Soveriegn misses
Z-95 fires dual proton torpedoes into the Sov's Warp nacelle's
Sov fires again, misses, still to fast
Z-95 fires dual proton's into the general area of engineering
Sov blows up from the damage
Z-95 loses shields from the explosion
Pilot curses himself and remembers to only use one torpedoe

Really guys, this is the kind of wanking that was not here that some people accused us of. An even match would be something along the lines of an Escort Carrier full of TIE Fighters (no bombers) or a bulk cruiser or a lancer frigate.

Trek isn't that pathetic.

The Z-95s wont be hurt by the SOv if the pilot is good enough, but it more than likely does not have the firepower to put it down.

A B Wing or Y wing perhaps, especially if given heavy space bombs

If we go by the ICS and TM specifications, then the Sovereign shields are an order of magnitude more powerful than the Z-95's main cannons, meaning that the Headhunter would have to put over a thousand shots into the Sovereign to bring its shields down.

Torpedoes are another matter--but the stock Z-95 doesn't have a torpedo launcher. Even if it did, it also depends on the starfighter's particular loadout...

How is this an even match? The headhunter would not be able to win this.

Assuming the Headhunter pilot and the Sovereign crew are good, it'll be a stalemate -- the Sovereign can't hit the Headhunter, and the Headhunter can't destroy the Sovereign.

Forgive my stupidity, but is the Head hunter that thing Luke rode on and tied the legs of the AT-AT with in ESB?

I'd like to think that you'd need, at the minimum, a full squadron of starfighters (armed with mid-range torpedoes) to consistently destroy a Sovereign. A couple squadrons, most reliably.

Ender's got the right idea. Pit the Sovvie against a Corvette or something.

That's a Snowspeeder (actually Airspeeders modified for Hoth's conditions). The Z-95 is the precursor to the X-Wing (more info and a pic available at this link http://www.galacticempiredatabank.com/Z ... unter.html).

Okay, some of you guys really need to work on posting some evidence to go along wiht your assumptions. Just because SW Proton TOrpedoes care incredibly powerful compared to ST tech that does not mean one hit kills versus Capships. Standard fighter lasers are not going to chew it apart either.

here's some advice given to me when I was n00b, Think of the "vs." thread you want to post, and see if it has already been posted. For you people that want to see SW fighters vs ST capships you might want to look at the "Six Sovereigns vs. Four Tie Defenders thread"

Some more advice, risk not the wrath of the mods and senior members with fanboy wanking.

By the way, don't get the Federation's Sovreign-class confused with the Empire's Sovreign-class, or you'll get your arse reamed out, probably with the nearest power pole.

The Empire's Soverein being the SSD with the continent cracking laser, correct? Sovereign is the smaller bro of Eclipse, right? Or was it the other way around?

And so.... a Headhunter, papa of X-wing, can kill a Sovereign?! The one which Picard rides? OMG that is just too much. I mean, if this is true, then why not destroy the Alpha Quadrant with just a horde of X-Wings or TIE Advanced with some space ports for them to refuel? (rhetorical question, don't bother to answer)

I mean, Feds can't be that lame, right?

And I thought Picard's ship was a Galaxy Class..... I am confused with Fed class of ships @_@

IIRC, yes, yes, and no.

Haven't you been paying any attention to any of other the posts in the thread?

Right, which is the answer you would have gotten if you read the other posts in the thread. A SW fighter may be able to take kilotons (or maybe even megatons, depending on the fighter) of punishment, but a few proximity blasts from the Federation's 64 and 128 megatons torps (and probably it's phasers as well) can still turn one to scrap.

And I thought Picard's ship was a Galaxy Class..... I am confused with Fed class of ships @_@
It was a Galaxy-class during the period of ST: The Next Generation, but since then the mantle of USS Enterprise has been moved to the more battle-capable Sovereign.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but if you want to have a decent Trek vs Wars debate then you should at least have some sort of idea of the ships and their capabilities used on both sides.

Sorry, now that I look back to my post I feel the need to slam my head into a wall.

I feel unintelligent.......

Sorry... :(

It won't happen again.

The Enterprise which was a Sovereign was the one on ST: Nemisis, right?

the Z-95 doesn't have shields according to the rebel alliance sourcebook...and IIRC doesn't have a warhead launcher.
