Excellent reminder as to why I left that horrible place known as the VeeEss Cantina, some people there couldn't see the truth even if you kicked them in the nuts with it, now they're defending the hugest troll seen in a long time, their total inability to recognize fundamental rights and wrongs is sickening.

Someone should nuke the Vs. Forum and all within, just like Laird(yeah, the Laird) nuked that newbie forum once :D

IIRC, he was a mod for a while and went on a power-abuse spree or something like that. It was before my time, so I've only heard bits and pieces. They call it the Hour of Hell, I believe.

As a joke, they made Laird an Admin for a bit. He trashed accounts of people (re: ME) and obliterated the newbie forum.

That explains the fear in everyone when Mike Wong was made an admin.

It may suprise people to note that I know Laird and he's actually not such a badguy, even though he pulled that stunt(which he's said he's sorry for, I don't believe he meant it in a serious way), wich actually consisted of putting animated pissing monkeys next to images.

This a qoute from darkstar on Spacebattles site:

"By demanding a debate based on the evidence"

I thought in a debate you need to use evidence to support your position or am I wrong?

That last part might be mis-understood, I didn't mean it to sound as if he didn't mean it when he was sorry, but that he didn't mean that whole thing to be taken that serious, just incase.

True, I recently figured this out, wich is when I denounced vs. debating on SB atleast(privately in my own head), mainly here too, but I check in now and then.

I'm in it for the same reason Saxton is, to measure and determine how and what SW tech is. and all it's other wonderfull aspects too.

But who is genuinely surprised that the likes of Vypr and E1701 would chime in with their "debating Wong is pointless because he's a big meanie" crap?

I just thought they'd be able to have _some_ objective thoughts in their heads...

And Alyeska wonders why I hate SB.com so much. Almost half of the people there are complete idiots. Look at the thread! How can anyone honestly think that DarkStar makes better points than Darth Wong?

Answer: They, too, are idiots.

I think I mentioned something about that in the Star Wars vs Star Trek thread HDS. Those bastards are fucking morons. They throw shit at the computer screen and expect me to concede? Then they do and do that on the thread. What ass munches.

I just went to SpaceBattles.com to see what all the hubub was about. Some fellow complained about not possessing an avatar, and he asked what should be first done in order for him to do so. One somewhat intelligent answer was followed by a slew of replies that said either, "Poke!" or some version thereof. "Poke?" What does that mean? Scrolling further down to peruse more replies revealed only more of the same.

Any intention I had of joining that group was thereby effectively crushed beneath that sea of absurdity -- truly, I don't get it. Are they all idiots, or is that some strange form of high school code speak?

I don't think we need to berate new posters. If they are intelligent, and that comes across in their arguments, then someone with three posts should have just as much say as someone with three thousand.

If, on the other hand, they are complete idiots then if they have a thousand posts they should still be ignored.

I HATE the Vs. debates.

Now some of the other areas such as the Gaming forum, the non-scifi forum, and Story Debates are really fun.

as for the VS. Debates

For a long time now, I've considered the Art and Support forum to be my favorite. Unfortunately, it gets so few new postings (and even fewer postings of pictures and the like). The Gaming forum is a close second.

I keep an eye on the Vs. forum only because a nifty debate arises every now and then. Like one out of every two or three hundred threads.

Bah. If you want more 3D gfx stuff, go to scifi-meshes.com or 3dgladiators.com. There's much more turnover there than in A&S. It's unfortunate, however, that both 3DG and SFM are almost completely dominated by Trek stuff at the moment.

(Can you spot the subtle call to arms for non-trekkies with 3D software? :))

Because a lot of people don't think they are ugly. IMO the ugliest ships on TV had to be those of BSG.

See that's the strange thing about Spacebattles (and I'm qualified to say this, as I've been there since Day 1).

The rest of the forum is a fine place. We've got the normal discussion area, the 3D area, the gaming area, Story Debates/Fan Fiction area, the Non-Sci Fi area (which is starting to turn bad)...

And then we have the VS Forum. I can quite confidently say that if I wasn't the Mod of that forum, I wouldn't step foot in it, such a cesspool of human waste it is.

Joke VS Debates aside (Buffy vs Ranma vs an ISDII! :D), there is very little "debate" that goes on there nower days.

Back, say, 4 or so years ago the debate really was debate. Things got done. Then came the Dark Times, the times of Alyeska, Big Bryan and E1701. Now, Aly is my friend (started off as enemies), and I don't mean to offend him with this, but if he, BB and E hadn't shown up the glory age of Spacebattles.com debating might've continued for while.

After that there was nothing any of us Warsie's could do. We sort of vanished until it was just two defenders (myself and another named Shadow_43) were left to fend off the growing list of ignorant moron Trekkies and (worse) the Rabid 5'vers! Then even we left, S_43 vanishing completely until recent months and me moving back to the general forum and staying there!

As many of you might have now guessed, it was a downward slide from thereon in and pretty soon the VS forum became the laughing stock of SB.com, and, to a point, still is even if the Non-Sci Fi is doing all in its power to steal the title of Excrament King.

Either way, I'm back in there now fighting against the idiocy (and it's hard... boy is it hard) but there really is no hope for that forum now. As I said, the other boards there are fine... but that VS forum... How the mighty fall...
