Shield Bashing

Sorry, it was just too bad a pun to pass up. But seriously, I wonder.

1) The premise behind shields I've found has always been a little flimsy. How do you get a pseudo magnetic or gravitic shield with so much power that it can deflect even energy weapons?

2) That even being said, the current trend has been, and probably will continue to be for a long while, light on the armor, heavy on the weaponry. How else could a troop carrier that could be easily destroyed by a small child with a hand grenade still be successful?

3) Seriously however, every form of armor that has been invented has found some form of counteractive measure in the weapon. When was the last time there have been any truly effective form of military armor? Not since Medeival times, I would think.

Well the fact is protective shields using something other than armor is being researched. An in one case is actually in the process of being deploy by the British to protect APC from RPG rounds...

The first technology is for use against energy base weapons like lasers ( a side benefit is that it made also made a ship invisible to radar..) is Cold plasma. Check out

A second Technology that been develop by the British miltary to defend against Heat rounds ,like that use by RPG, uses electrical current to vaporize the molten copper that is ejected by the shell.
