I don't know about refuting him, but you can ask him why he assumes that the glow of the bolt would remain at the exactly the same size of when they were fired as when they hit something in the distance.

Because the bolt is at an angle to our perspective making the bolt seem shorter.

Crossover Maniac is a fucking troll.

Incredibly dishonest, or spectacularly stupid, either way, CM has to prove that the bolt width is a reliable factor, which he will have a very very hard time to do since the glow of bolts and beams always change in the movie.

An incredibly inconsistant medium to scale from IOW, and so far he's not proven it to be reliable in light of the evidence against it.

He's a fucking idiot. The AT-AT hit the generator when it was 17km away from it. And he's saying the the generators were 200m across?

I have an LED light that's about four millimeters across.

This LED can be seen clearly, on a dark night, from over a mile away.

How can you see an object that's four millimeters wide from over a mile away?

When CM can answer that question, then I'll take him seriously.

He is a complete idiot:

1.) To build up the scenario as a whole, he cannot mix Rebel technology and Starship Trooper technology. The MI don´t have theatre shields. Darth Vader, arriving with the Executor and 5 ISDs, could have used various TIE designs, gunboats and orbital fire at will to support his campaign. There wouldn´t be the need to land the AT-ATs outside the shields and then slowly approaching the generator, as there would be none. Let him explain why the nukes should be of any relevance in this scenario :kill:

2.) IIRC, the nukes shot by the MI had a range of a few hundret meters, perhaps even 1km or so. They were designed to be efficient against bugs, not against AT-ATs, and one would have to calculate their power output in detail to determine if they could be of any use in fighting an AT-AT.
Remember: The whole reason the AT-ATs came into play was because of the theatre shield of the rebels: It was a requirement that one of the AT-ATs comes as close to the generator as 17km to blow it up. Once the generator is gone, any resistance would be futile

3.) The rebel base wasn´t completely destroyed immediately after the shield failure because Vader wanted Luke Skywalker alive. Without Luke, the Empire could just have wiped out the base from above - and perhaps afterwards search for survivers, if necessary. Why would thy need walkers iat the first place?

Crossover Maniac is a complete fool who is unable to set up a proper scenario.
Don´t play by his rules. Ask him why AT-ATs should be relevant in the first place. He has to set up a goal to the mission, which must be reached. If the Empire doesn´t need AT-ATs at all - too bad, so sad.

And, first and foremost: MIs don´t have theatre shields. Do they have any shielding at all? IIRC they don´t, at least none of tactical value. The MI doesnn´t have armour, they only have standard rifles, nukes and 1 (!) sniper rifle per company. That´s not impressive at all. No FlaK, no MGs, nothing.
Ladies and gentlemen, I can envision the day when the brains of brilliant men can be kept alive in the bodies of dumb people.

I don't know, but the tech in Starship Troopers semmed really primitive to me. No, I'm NOT talking about how it looks like. THier Tech WAS poor and laughable.

The angle of the pic makes the bolt small, since you're looking from behind. An AT-AT should have little problem piercing that armor, and destroying it. And the guy's pixel figures, were complete crap.

This sounds like the same dishonest trick that a certain troll (the last entry on the hatemail page) tires to use to make the TESB asteroids smaller than they really are.
