Who would lead the Empire against the Federation

Post by Sarevok »

When thinking about the leader of an imperial assault on the federation Grand Admiral Thrawn is the first name that comes to mind. I however do not think Thrawn or any one of the Empires top commanders would be leading imperial forces in the milky way.

The federation is hopelessly outmatched, there is no reason for sending in a tactical genius since the Empire can blast their in a brute force method. In my opinion none of our favorite imperials like Darth Vader, Ozzel, Thrawn would be making an appearence. Anyway that is what I think and I could be wrong so I would like know other peoples opinions.

Who do you think would lead the Empire against the Federation ?

Who knows, maybe they might just send a genius to ready for the worst case scenario.

Some Captain stuck on a frigate patrolling the Outer Rim who conquers the ST galaxy to get promoted.

That is more likely what is going to happen. Considering the huge disparity between the federation and the Empire they will probobly send in a couple of archaic frigates commanded by some nameless captains if the Empire actualy considers the federation as a threat.

The conquest of the ST galaxy would be akin to the european conquest of africa. Just like the europeans the empire has a huge technological edge. The europeans never sent the actual might of their military to fight the african savages, instead it was a combination private entrepenuors and companies and some limited incursions by goverments. Just like an ISD a nineteenth century eurpean battleship could hold entire terrotories hostage in africa.

The Empire will probobly do something similar here. Since there is nothing worth taking in the ST galaxy the imperial fleet will never travel to there. Instead private corporations and individuals make there way. Occasonaly some little known captain or moff will conduct raids there to make a name for themselves. Eventualy the federation would be overrun by either armed mafia like the hutts or private corporations. The Empire would not directly get involved. They would set up checkpoints to collect revenue, which is the only way one can make some profit out of this otherwise useless galaxy, and occasionaly carry out strikes against insurgents.

I doubt the emperor would let private coroprations invade the milky way. He'd be to paraniod to let thoose companies have the same power and territories as he did.

Most like hed send whoever happened to be in the area.

He wouldn't send a Grand Admiral, he needs those to be present and visable in the home Galaxy so he can integrate them like he was planning to. It'd probably fall to some random admiral.

But I canalmost garuntee it wouldn't be Thrawn, he was busy on an important task and the Emperor wouldn't pull him unless it was ubercritical which this should not be.

Admiral Piett, perhaps? He hasn't exactly proven himself in battle, so if he wants to continue to command the Executor, he should prove his worth in battle ...

To conquer the ST galaxy you're not gonna really need cutting edge tatics. A simple Line Captain or Junior Admiral would have the skills and training to co-ordinate the ships involved in the conquest. I seem to remember Thrawn allowing one of his junior captain's to negoriate the surrender of a planet and then the transition of it's planetaty defences.

Those not Thrawn are not incompetent. ~Jason
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

back to the topic, I think you'd need to send a pretty intelligent person. If you're conquering and integrating, you're going to need a general AND a buraucrat. Dealing with another thousand or so alien species is daunting enough, but getting them to be productive for you will take some prodding.

And besides, the Empire likes humans, so they'll probably be getting some conscripts, who have to be made a part of the Imperial forces.

In which meaning of the word, since if misinterpretated those words can conjure of some horrible mental imagery.

Actually, Harbid of Death's Head negotiated the surrender. Pellaeon handled the deployment. Which of course led to no few jokes about Thrawn's lack of a real battle staff :D

And I always got that impression in Thrawn's trilogy (though most of Thrawn's ISD captains are not inflated enough to even qualify as 1D) that Death's Head and Harbid are one of Thrawn's more trusted vessels :D
