Beaming Photon Torps

Post by Ender »

Here is an honest to God question I am hoping Darkling, Romulan, Alyeska or one of the otherc can answer for me.

If it is so easy to beam aboard Borg ships like we see them do so often, why not just beam a photon torpedoe aboard like debating noobs cliam the Feds would to the Empire?

Is it maybe... impossible?

I might be mistken, but, antimatter cannot be beamed through a transporter. Torpedoes have matter/antimatter warheads. Although i dont know why a good ol fashioned nuke wouldnt work. :D

A nuke is simple and it works. Therefore, the Federation will never use one.
For a time, I considered sparing your wretched little planet Cybertron.
But now, you shall witnesss ... its dismemberment!

Then seems like the whole subtrans argument was moot anyway.

Actually, it's been proven that they can do it... it actually happens in one ep... the trick is getting the other guy to actually drop his sheilds first.... and hoping he doesn't have a neutronium impregnated hull :D

One of the very first Drakling debates was the one with the lost technology subspace transporter. Look on the last page to find it.

Nothing to add.

Voyager beamed a torpedo over to a borg ship once and it worked rather well.......

Though I'm not sure of the circumstances that led up to that. It's very unlikely that such a tactic could be used against Imperial ships.

They (Imps) wouldn't drop shields for anyone in the first place. At least the Imps aren't *stupid*...

Not to mention heavy jamming which is likely to affect Starfleet'S feeble subspace based devices as well.

To my great shame, I have that episode on tape.

Borg: you will be assimilated
Lameway:you know we can match your firepower
later

Borg: Regenerate primary sheild matrix...
alarm goes off
Borg; Starfleet Photon Torpedo, Disarm weapon

drone lurches over to torp and opens tha caseing, sees blinking lights

scoutship explodes

Chako; I thought we only wanted to disable it? (YOU WERE ONLY SUPPOSED TO BLOW THE BLOODY DOORS OFF!)

To the point, They need to be able to disable the sheilding first, with phasers.
