"Galaxy Quest"...with a twist!
A super advanced alien culture from a galaxy away picks up signals from Earth at least millenia old...of course, the signals are of Star Trek shows from all series, and all episodes. Not knowing better, they assume that these are documentaries of a long-dead alien culture. What do they think? What observations do they observe? How do they rationalize inconsistencies?
Scenerio 2 - same thing, but they also pick up all 6 Star Wars movies as well

Re: "Galaxy Quest"...with a twist!
They think "A machine to alter the laws of probability? A sonic weapon in space? A crack in an event horizon? These people are clearly delusional!" They observe that our planet is clearly incapable of rational thought. They cannot rationalize the inconsistencies because that would be impossible, so they conclude that what they are viewing is actually some form of recorded hallucination, since "dream-state" views are actually quite common in Trek. They discard the information for fear that it will degrade the general level of scientific knowledge in their populace by spreading its pseudoscientific mindset. And then they destroy Earth just to make sure it doesn't spread.RayCav of ASVS wrote:A super advanced alien culture from a galaxy away picks up signals from Earth at least millenia old...of course, the signals are of Star Trek shows from all series, and all episodes. They heave a deep sigh of relief when they find out that DS2 was destroyed before it was completed, because they know it would be unstoppable. Then they get all excited because of Natalie Portman's tits.Scenerio 2 - same thing, but they also pick up all 6 Star Wars movies as well

It super advanced believed Trek is real well… I think a civilization need at least a high school physics book to be called advanced..

1 - Their historians come to the conclusion that the Federation died out because of their frequent, stupid mistakes and powder-keg warp cores.
They then proceed to build exact working replicas of these cores to amuse their children who make them explode by throwing paper airplanes at them.
However, they get somewhat confused as to where to place Enterprise with the rest of the history, as it doesn't appear to fit in anywhere.
2 - They are impressed with the might of the Empire, upon seeing Coruscant they fire all their engineers because they said that turning an entire planet into a city was unfeasable, but the historical documents clearly show they're wrong.
Upon watching RotJ, they make sure to remember that any planets inhabited by seemingly harmless teddy bears should be bombarded from orbit to wipe them out before occupation. Just in case.

That and evacuation in a moment of triumph might actually be GOOD advice.Evil Jerk wrote:Upon watching RotJ, they make sure to remember that any planets inhabited by seemingly harmless teddy bears should be bombarded from orbit to wipe them out before occupation. Just in case.

Better yet, only arrive on the field of battle, after the triumph and celebrate later after blasting every escape pod..CmdrWilkens wrote:That and evacuation in a moment of triumph might actually be GOOD advice.Evil Jerk wrote:Upon watching RotJ, they make sure to remember that any planets inhabited by seemingly harmless teddy bears should be bombarded from orbit to wipe them out before occupation. 1. They set a course for eath, transport B&B up and torture them for an eternity.
2. They sneer and scoff at the rebel's chances. Then they build a working Deathstar. and put in orbit of earth to see what happens.

Actually I feel that they would build ISDs, because, hell they just look cool. THEN they would build a DS. Just because they can.NecronLord wrote:Let's for fun assume said aliens are necrons :twisted:RayCav of ASVS wrote:A super advanced alien culture from a galaxy away picks up signals from Earth at least millenia old...of course, the signals are of Star Trek shows from all series, and all episodes. Well, to be fair(WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME?!), if the aliens are as gullible as the ones in Galaxy Quest, they might look at the impossibilities of Trek and conclude these people, while horrible engineers, had unlocked the secrets of the universe. Of course, if they're that gullible...

They would assume that the historical documents were nothing short of propaganda.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red
