This can most likley be considered an expansion on Crazy Ivans thread "Trek is dead, Long live Trek!"

Remember long ago, when we used to debate about Trek vs Wars. Hell, I do, it was only what a few months ago. As of July 8th there was still some interesting arguments flying around of Trek vs Wars in fact. I say this because that would be the day I joined SD.NETs forums, and I had fun debating with some people about things that were still hot at the moment.

But now I revisist the past and look into the future and realize: Trek is no more. When was the last time an interesting (which obviously disregards any of DS's arguments) SW vs ST argument came up? Quite simply there nothing we can do, it cannot be argued, its irrefutable: Wars wins. So what road is left for debaters and Trekkies alike? Have we not hit adead end?

This very sites purpose, to expose the ST universes inferiority to Wars, has been done, done , and done to death. Where do we go from such a position?

Folks whether you realized it or not we've witnessed the passing of an era. For ages (well in my lifetime, anyways =) ) we geeks have debated in parking lots, over the phone, then through e-mails, IMs, and forums. And now when the dust has settled, all has been said and done, what do we have left? Nothing, trek loses and we SW geeks have to find something else to talk about.

For as I've seen, all we have been doing is saying "well now we have some new calcs for how more powerful Wars is than Trek." So I ask you now, where do we, canwe go from here?

The real question to be considered in regards to the viability of Trek is not which universe's tech can kick ass on the other (a question which really has been settled definitively, trolls and Trek cultists notwithstanding), but rather the far larger issue of why, why, why the Trek franchise just sucks ass so badly on the creative front and not only if there is any possibility of this depressing trend being reversed, but whether there would be any point in even trying after the damage has been done over the last ten years. With a very evident creative bankruptcy and neglect for the Franchise's health on Paramount's part, does it have anything more to say that hasn't already been said and done? Or is it time for the Forces of Evolution to do their long-delayed work on a thing which has effectively rendered itself extinct?

Has Trek's time finally passed?

It has been demonstrated that Trek would not compete with the Empire, but there is still plenty to discuss on these boards. We can talk about ST in general, and I still like beating down some new Trekkies that occasionally stop by for a visit, so long as they don't ignore what I say. Loser099 was probably my favorite troll, because he was stupid but he would listen to us and occasionally admit defeat.

I cannot possibly imagine how Trek can defeat Wars! Wars' pitiful 'lasers' couldn't even pentrate the navigational deflectors, and the Empire's pitiful 1000 ship navy is NO MATCH for the 12,000 warships of STARFLEET!

Okay, GOD, there's a little something called "firepower." Star Wars firepower is orders of magnitude greater than ST firepower.

Also, SW shields, speed, armor, and range are all orders of magnitude better than anything in the AQ, Delta Quadrant, or Gamma Quadrant.
