Good ST vs SW Homeworld Mod
Any links to any mostly-done mods? I don't have Cataclysm, btw.

Hell yes!
Star Wars: Invasion for Homeworld. Go here to see a few of my screenies http://groups.msn.com/StarTrekVsStarWar ... 2376098650
and here to get the mod itself.
http://www.modfactory.net/mirror/SWFA/s ... etav02.zip
However when played without any changing of stats etc. isnt too realistic compared to the facts we know of the SW universe today. I have spent countless hours balancing it and still keeping the game balance, i allso added a high poly ISD to replace to ISD that normally is in the heavy cruiser slot in the Imperial side, the ISD i added is very highly detailed and it looks amazing in game. If you want my modified version of it then drop me a line on private message.

I have never downloaded any game mods, so i have a small(but probably rather stupid) question
does a game mod work with a demo or full game only? because with the demo of a game it still downloads the game engine, and because you change the rest of the games content anyway when making a mod...

Usually they only work with the full game. At least that always been my experience with mods.Alyrium Denryle wrote:I have never downloaded any game mods, so i have a small(but probably rather stupid) question

Now and then you'll find a mod that works with a demo. Homeworld isn't expensive, though. I bought it for the sole purpose of playing SWNR (link here) and only paid $10.

Often you still use most of the game content, which *might* not be in the demo. The demo also might have some intentional blocking of datafiles, even if they're there (ex. the Whateveraxians don't show up in any level of the demo, so even if it can find the files to the race, they might be disabled)Alyrium Denryle wrote:I have never downloaded any game mods, so i have a small(but probably rather stupid) question

SW:I is traditionally a combination of Sacrifice of Angels and Star Wars New Rebellion, and as both of these are nearing a new release, you can expect to see a new SW:I in the coming months
I'm on both teams, suffice to say the new models are incredible.
Oh, everyone on both teams knows that the balancing is not necessarily as it would be in "real life", but it is balanced for the purposes of gameplay. SW ships tend to be slower (at sublight, all hyperspace is instantaneous), more expensive, and more powerful than Fed ones, which preserves game balancing.

Howedar: I have taken these things into account and in my balancings i have given much thought to game balance, actually the game balance still is pretty good even when an ISD is insanely powerfull but when you damage it heavully it takes a damn decade to repair so it equals.
Anyways i just thought that the Defiants were ridicolously powerfull angainst any Imp cap ship, the Defiants still are powerfull but 3 HTL shots from the ISD's HTLs bring down one, and lots of other small issues that i have allready forgotten.

I've already downloaded the mod and it looks awesome.
Very Cool
Is it in the Final version? I have trouble playing the campaign.

I only have Cataclysm right now, and the mods I've seen so far are quite lame... the StarDestroyer is tiny and has all the mothership plugins hanging in such way that it's not even funny. And I can't even see the TIE fighters
Is the mod for original Homeworld any better? I'm... er, buying Homeworld classic right now, but it won't be until a week or so. It's only about 75% "bought" yet

The mods for the original are much better currently. If anyone wants my balanced version of the same mod with 1 new ship , a very high poly and extremely cool ISDII then here is the link
(Note i have only balanced it a bit my way everything else is the same and made by the team so only smallish balancing issues are what i have done.)

An excelent mod and no doubt about it.
But i have a few nitpicks,
the Tie fighters are too small, they need drive trails so we can find them in battle easier.
in single player the Federation ships destroy the cryo pods before you can even launch your missile boats.
No cardassian or romulan major ships. the inclusion of excelsior class ships was a mistake
That all for now but all in all i'm happier than i'm dissapointed

Hmm sounds like you have mis placed something. All the required files are in the ace folder. And single player works like a charm you just need to select to be the Kushan if i recall correctly since the race selection pics havent been changed.Alyrium Denryle wrote:hmm have the mod and homeworld. It shouldnt crash in skirmish.

Ok i made it more fair for the feds. The Negh'Var is now 1/3 of the health of the VSD The Negh being 220,000 and the VSD 650,000 and ISD's health was 3,500 000 and now it is 2,200 000. Made a lot of lowering and increasing damage done by the weapons.
It should be now a lot more fair for the Feds but the ISD still easilly slaughters small groups of Fed vessels, but it costs a lot and the build time is 7 minutes.

well i don't have Homeworld but i do have ST Armada. The SW vs ST mod for it is pretty cool although it has a few bugs( like the ISD and other large ships turn like fighters. But they do move slow like a big ship should). However the B5 mod for Armada is awsome.

Ok I think this is important to determine whether the mod is good sucks:
1) Try to be consistent with the actual size of Star Wars ships (having a ~10 meter long TIE next to a ~2km Star Destroyer) : SUCKS
2) Try to be consistent with Homeworld ship sizes (roughly have TIEs and Wings be the same size, and the mothership being as big as the original mothership) : GOOD
Because the Cataclysm mods basically are of type 1, which SUCKS because a) the Star Destroyer mothership is TINY compared to the one in the game.
b) the TIE fighters are so MICROSCOPIC that even in the strongest zoom you only see a dot.
So I want to ask, which type is the Rebellion mod?

The size of the ships is done the the point where it does not lower the game balance significantly. The fighters are very small but offcourse they arent the right size when compared to an ISD, otherwise the ISD's would be fucking humongous or the Tie's the size of a needle tip. IMVHO the size differences have allways been good.
In the New Rebellion mod the fighters are small, without any zoom you wont see them at all, you will need to zoom a lot before you can see them and still keep the game balance, compared to the ISD's the fighters are right on scale and still it doesnt really affect gameplay. At full zoom tough if you zoom to a single fighter it will fill the entire screen but next to an ISD the fighter is tiny but next to the Home One its even smaller. But trust me the game is still exellent and you most certainly should try it.

Still having trouble with the mod.
During level 4 the game crashes when the mothership class mass signature is detected. Did this in the new rebellion mod as well.

The smaller ships should be as visible as the original Homeworld, at least. Anything smaller will make it unplayable IMO.Rightous Fist Of Heaven wrote:The size of the ships is done the the point where it does not lower the game balance significantly. I guess I should try it, but I already tried the one for Cataclysm and it suffered greatly from this problem. The default zoom should be enough to see the small ships next to the big ones.
Visibility of TIEs has been fixed. Single player game will give crashes because it has not been modified yet.

The mod looks great. But Im also having problems with the single players mode. Damn feds crush the cryos trays before I can even launch!
Also, do I need cataclysm or homeworld to play this?
BTW for those who like the STvSW Aramda mod, try the Armada2 Mod. Its only a beta and lots of ships on the ST side arnt there, but the Cap ships dont turn like fighters anymore.

Addendum: Crap...its seems the link is broken, hopefully it will be fixed soon
