Star Wars Pirate/Hutt Factions vs. The Federation et. al.

This is an interesting one. I don't know if it has been proposed before, but what it a Pirates/Hutt Crime organizations found the wormhole into the Milky Way, more precisely into Federation space. What would be the outcome? Myself having read only the the Zahn books am not familiar enough to comment. So I will rely on you, my more knowledgable commrads, to fill in the blanks.

How much havoc will they create? What possible resources will they find? Who, in the AQ, will be their biggest threat? How long will it be before the Empire finds out?

Havoc? Only the Hutts maybe. Karrde would see the ST galaxy as an untapped resource for trading. He would likely contact the Ferengi and use them as his contacts to buy info on the ST galaxy before attempting to move his organization into the ST galaxy. He might even base himself in there because it would be safer then in SW because his ship is relatively unstoppable and much faster then anything else.

What would the UFP and the other AQ powers have to trade with the Hutts and Karrde?

The Holo-Deck would be intresting as would the transporter tech, basicly the same things that would intrest a Federation/Empire Allanace

Hmmmmm.....First I would think Hutts would publicise*sp* it and start getting a stream of tourists to pay the toll and go through. The hutts will colonise the uninhabited planets and turn them to their own jewels and tourist attractions. The Ferengis will probably drop by with their latinum and a good trade between the two could ensue.

As for pirates...hmmm steal ST starships and sell them to museums for profit?

This might be interesting-- the Hutts and their smugglers on contract would exploit the hell out of the AQ. I actualyl doubt they would open it up to tourism-- first off, what is there that's so interesting to see in the AQ, and secondly, it would attract the unwanted attention of the Empire.

But the Hutts could take in bulk cruisers and, with their hyperdrive, immediately corner the interstellar trade routes of the AQ and make a sweet profit. They probably would not work with the Ferengi or if they did they'd keep a tight leash on them, since they'd recognize the Ferengi as conniving sneaks that would try to doublecross them at the first opportunity (it would be a mistake on the Ferengi's part, but they've not shown much intellectual capacity in such things).

Anybody caught trying to mess with the Transportation monopoly would end up with a bounty hunter breathing down their necks, and if necessary well-armed pirate ships could teach a few lessons to any Fed (or other official) cruiser trying to investigate.

Another possibility: the Klingons, easily bought by dreams of glory and of no competitive threat to the Hutts, might be employed as enforcers to back up the bounty hunters. The Klingons would see this as a chance to put a little sense of dignity and mission back into their limping empire.

Black Sun was large and powerful enough to annoy Lord Sidious into despatching Lord Maul to liquidate their leadership (ref. Darth Maul). It remained ambitious enough to attempt to discredit Lord Vader (ref. Shadows of the Empire), and, years later, to attempt to seize power from the New Republic (ref. Under a Black Sun trilogy).

Black Sun's influence is often over-exaggerated. Nevertheless, it was an extremely potent and dangerous criminal syndicate, whose ambitions were even more grandiose than those of the rogue empereurs en petit who defected from the Empire's service.

Black Sun's introduction to the naïve and permissive United Federation would be disastrous for the latter. Considering the lax social standards of Federal citizens, and the sanitised lifestyles they lead (synthetic alcohol being the most stunning example), the idea of a severely addictive recreational drug is probably quite foreign to most citizens. Controlled substances like glitterstim would rapidly become extraordinarily harmful to the social structure.

Black Sun is interested in profit and power. The United Federation, which is not capitalist in the strictest sense, but a socialistic society operating without capital, cannot offer much in the way of the former. Its unfamiliarity with organised crime on the scale of Black Sun renders it impotent against the syndicate.

As stated, the results of Black Sun's introduction to the United Federation would be utterly disastrous.
