Right, suppose I offered to you the chance to have either the standard run of the mill apartment from the ST Feddies, or SW GE. These would come as the average size, with the average appliances (i.e. replicators) of the age. Everything outside the apartment would be the same as it is now. Power requirements would not be a problem because **technoblabble**.

Which would you pick?

SW. I'm likely to find a much more advanced computer system in there which, i could spend most of the rest of my life reverse engineering and patenting for immense profit.

ST, I am much more likely to find a computer system it will be within my capabilities to reverse engineer at all during my lifetime.

Star Trek. Assuming the replicator can make decent Mexican food, pizza, cheeseburgers, and beer, anyway.

We know what we're getting with Star Trek, and can't be quite as confident about the "normal" living conditions in the Star Wars galaxy.

SW. I have replicators, and a new nasty side arm for pesky bugs.

Along with other nifty things...neither I'm ever going to reverse engineer.....ever.

Star Wars. With an R2 unit, if my car breaks down I know some kind of repairs can be effected... And, of course, by "car" I mean the airspeeder in the garage.

Star Wars. Some of the appliances can be leased to the gov't for study. And the advanced nature of it would ensure they'd be studying it for a long time.

But is a holodeck an "average appliance" in a Trek household?

Not likely. Berklys apartment which was shown in Voyger did not have a holodeck.

Trek.

All I have to do is replicate an army of evil robotic monkeys with gigantic phaser cannons, and then I'll take over a bigger apartment that has a holodeck! Whoo!

In Star Wars, it's more realistic, there are rich people and there are poor people, and people struggling to make a living in Coruscant's underworld while rich Hutt's are in the tall towers.

In Star Trek, the world is pretty and perfect, and since they no longer have money, everyone is rich. It's shortsighted and extremely unrealistic, and probably not even possible, but hey, if I had a choice and had to live in an apartment, I'd live there.

Now if I DIDN'T have an apartment, I'd go for SW.

Repulsors are cool (ship can hover places), and hyperdrive is way faster, and I could make a handsome profit smuggling...lol.

HAHAHA! I TIED IT UP!

Trek because I would have a replicator, with which I would construct the parts to make a huge-ass one, then I could replicate anything from a new Ferrari Enzo to an AT-AT.

Now if I don't feel like handling the traffic, I don't have to...(of course being only 15, I don't even have a car...)

Then I would also make me my own X-Wing, complete with black with silver trim paint scheme... :D

definitely a trek apartment, if only for the replicator and computer systems that are bound to be more advanced than anything presently existing. even if they seem to run off a 24th century microsoft platform.

Point, but my answer remains the same.

Besides, if it's just the apartment, replicators will use huge amounts of power.

Still staying with the Trek apartment. If you chose a SW apartment your likely to end up with a Coruscant type shoe box with a toilet/ From everythign we've seen on trek the living quarters are roomy, well equiped and generally pleasent to live in.

The Trek one, just for the replicator. I'd figure out how to program it to replicate dollah dollah bills, and I'd be set. And even if that's impossible, I'd have it replicate glasses and plates knicknacks and sell those for a little extra money. The point is I'd figure out some way to turn that replicator into a cash cow.

The replicators come with their own power source I think. In the Voyger episode "False Profits" two Ferengi were able to use their replicator while stranded on a primitive planet with no electricity.
