Post by MKSheppard »

Well, is there?

I mean hell, we know Wars won a long time ago, and that what we see are
the pitiful last gasp rantings of a few die hard trektards....

So why do we keep coming to SD.net?

Is it the camaderie? is it the fun slapping down fundies, etc etc?

A classic from the ASVS archives....

Mike could change it to strictly a "vs." site, opening up all non-warsies to come in and become TRP's. That may generate too wide a focus. Regardless, Mike will do what he likes -- this is his site afterall.

That's an adequate description. Let's cut loose with a BM-21 strike on an entire grid square...

There will always be mindless trekkies that need education...

However, Mike is doing a great service that goes beyond Star Trek vs Star Wars. His site promotes rational, critical thinking. Regardless of whether I agree with 100% of what he says, its meaningful dialog that compels one to actually THINK about what they are saying.

Other "vs" boards don't have this element. That's why I keep coming back.

As long as there are Trekkies to debate and new observations to make with future material, there will be SW vs. ST.

Actually, as long is there are new movies/shows coming out in each franchise you have good potential for more versus arguments.

To a lesser extent you could say the same about other media types but I think we'll have upswings in vs. stuff with Nemesis' release and then with EpIII (hopefully because of all the new ships).

There is no point any more.

With that 200GT *crap* in the ICS..............

And what is this I hear about Mike Wong being in the credits for that, along with a number of other SW nuts? (Page 32 I am told)

Yup Wong and Poe are there. Under the acknowledgements section.

And you should also explain why 200GT is crap.

But since you're an idiot who will never back up what he says, you won't.

In addition, the debate was over BEFORE the ICS, you twit.

Run along now.

Before the ICS came out, people saying anything more then 2GT HTLs were quickly shot down by both sides. The second the ICS comes out, all the SW nuts say to anyone that uses the pre ICS numbers of 2GT HTL High range are told they are "dumb fucktards"

Before, with this ICS thing, I thought "er..... maybe."

But now that I have heard (and now confermed) that at least 2 major SW nuts are acknowledgements section, then I (and a number of others) think that the ICS was just a way for these 'people' to get someway of making sure they would kick ST ass.

Before ST had a "real" chance in an all out war, but now .......

Wrong "Dumb-Fucktard" before ICS there was a vauge shadow of hope because everyone Warsi from Wong on down where doing EVERYTHING they could to try and Weaken SW, try and lower it enough so MAYBE a ST VS SW War would acutaly be intresting, before ICS we already knew that if SD were mounting piddly 10kt Weaponry as some Trekkys claimed back in the day that the SD had reactors basicly sitting around doing nothing because we knew how much power was being made by that reactor and unless Turbolasers where so bloody inficcent(rougly by a factor of 50,000) we know that the Reactor was able to provide much much more power than was being used?

How much? Well based on what Trekkys liked at the time(They said Megaton max weaponry for SDs) then around five orders of the magintuded of that reactors power was sitting around doing NOTHING

The Orgional ICS which had diagrams of SD showed the location of the weapons and we can see that those shots 40 Gigaton shots(Based on the Asstroid Vape) had to have come from either a Light or a Medium TurboLaser but we left that asided always trying to dumb things down to do our best to try and make the fight vaugly even

Now then the second ICS comes out we see the Accilmator in all its glory and find that those "Heavy" 200 Gigaton weapons it mounts are the same SIZE and near same SHAPE as the MEDIUM guns of an ISD!

The fight between SW and ST was over long before ICS came out, Even assuming completly = damaging weapon standerds the Industrial Capability of a single SW System out-passes ST so much its not even funny

In Akira's world, Wong and Poe approached Saxton and proposed a shady deal by which the ICS would be used to forever destroy Trekkie's hopes of actually winning. Yes, Akira, the great Zionist er I mean Warsie conspiracy was brought to its successful completion ...

As for gigaton level weaponry being denied by both sides before ICS; you are of course, either mistaken or lying. The technology comparison on stardestroyer.net (which I am sure you have never read) never mentions the ICS figure and yet still establishes the gigaton figure- not to mention the official useage of Gigaton-level in Slave Ship. Try again.

Ah, the good old days before ICS, I remember HDS saying that he thought that an ISD would be evenly matched by 12 GCS. The Empire would still have beat the Federation in those days but you could still have an argument without the Trek side simply being stupid.

Nowadays an Imperial frigate could take down a big Federation fleet. SW vs ST is dead...

Here's a question: if GL were to acknowledge Curtis Saxton in his next movie, would Trekkies scream that it's not canon because of Saxton's influence? Because they're basically saying that the official ICS is not official because of our influence (which they naturally assume to be begging for giant figures, of course).
