As the evil dictator of all things NuclearSpace, I decree that if you intend to argue Star Trek vs Star Wars, then there should be an elementary rule.

Rule:

It is only official 'canon' here at NS if it was put to broadcast film or video or was released widespread theatrically. No hard to verify books, technical manuals etc. that make up even more convoluted history. This means tv eps of ALL series and movies for Star Trek, and this means all movies AND tv specials for Star Wars.

Point out the know shield Strengths, Point out it violates Lucus-Film Cannonical Policy while Conforiming to ST Cannonical Policy, IE making it unfair

Yeah but I've already been in debates where people scream Borg can do this or the Enterprises does this and oh 200GT is too much.

Honestly...amazed when offer to come here they claim I'm running, but then again they've yet to refute any data...and honestly they get funnier as time progress(especially since it always ends up with Q or time travel)

Point out how the movies show the SW universe ships can not only travel from Core worlds (i.e. Coruscant) to Outer Rim worlds (i.e. Tattooine) in about a day, in a galaxy comparable in shape to the Milky Way.

Point out that said speed points to the ability to travel from 1 side of the galaxy to another in 2 days, 3 tops... in contrast to Voyager's stated need for 70 years to travel 70,000 LY.

Point out how said speed advantage is a crushing tactical advantage for the SW universe, even assuming firepower was equal. Had the Federation had a similar speed advantage over the Dominion/Cardassians, they could have easily brought in all of Starfleet in every single battle, destroyed the Dominion/Cardassian fleets piecemeal, without having to worry about leaving any Federation planets unguarded since they would be able to return in a matter of hours, perhaps minutes. They wouldn't even have needed to gather the ships together, but simply could have had them time their travel so that they all arrived simultaneously in pincer formation.

You can't do much if people won't use logic or actually look at the evidence you present. The best you can do is point out where their fallacies are, demand that they produce evidence, etc.

Oh, and feel free to plagiarize Wong's site. I'm sure he'll love to know that people are using his insights to further the cause. Plus, he's already structured his arguments so that they take into account the typical Trekkie stances, and blown gaping holes in their counterarguments.

You have to state that its inherently unfair to allow Trekkies to use everything deemed legitimate by Paramount canon policy, but not let Warsies use everything Lucasfilm Limited deems canon (everything except Star Wars Tales & Infinities). If LFL made their stooges work hard to make legit SW, so they could include more legit canon, that's LFL's business and it isn't LFL's or SW's fault that Paramount did not.

Then point out the Star Wars canon refers to the size of the SW Galaxy as 120,000 light-years in diameter, making it 1/5 wider (and thus, considerably larger) then the Milky Way.

Slobba was whining about using only canon. So, playing fast and loose with the facts I proved that the EU actually hampers SW. I posted it in the thread "Hey GAT" where I asked him for his 79YT figs.

I fully admit to using his logic and work to slap around people. I don't do it verbaitem, and I will reinterpreate some of it that I disagree with (IE the reason 8472 was going to conquer the Borg so quickly), but I use his stuff

I do...and they go claiming it's (insert whatever) information and obviously false.

Yet they still have yet to give me any real calcs...and when asked on any calcs of specfics they make up shit that really boggles the mind(SW has primitive tech because they don't use transporters...or the The BORG will pull the feddies fat out of the fire...etc....or my current fave Sec 31 insures no tech is lost tech...so when I say Quantum Armored Star Destroyer they claim wussing out, but if they claim Trilitium/Transphasic it's word of God)...honestly it's tiring and since they literally start up every 2 1/2 monthes boring as hell since I can almost guarantee what I'll see...besides I go there for other reasons than see a Voyager Wank fest.

Honestly I let Vendetta fight with them more because I think he enjoys it more(I don't feel like screaming at a wall) and the level of ignorance they portray is pretty much near unbreakable. If cornered they literally go Q or Time travel but never concede and when offered to take their debate to a board(any of em) where they actually devote to the subject...99% don't.
