Enterprise-E vs. ISD

Post by JeanLucPicard »

Situation:

Enterprise E faces off against 1 ISD.

Variables:

1) The Enterprise's scanners have the ability to determine the frequency of the ISD's shields.
2) The ISD has the advantage of superior firepower and rate of fire.
3) Enteprise is more manuverable, and can hit the ISD at 300,000K.*
4) The ISD has a full complement of TIE fighters (please tell me how many that would be).
5) The Enterprise has 2x its normal loadout of Photon and Quantum torpedoes.
6) Neither ship can go to warp or hyperspace.
7) The Enterprise has ablative armor (Defiant type).
8) The Enterprise has 2 squadrons of Delta Flyers. (1 squadron=10DFs)

Any ideas on what might happen? Any technical comments? Care to educate me on SW a little bit?
And I cast my crown before God Above
Sayin’ “I don’t deserve this act of love”
Then He picks me up and says to me
“You are my child and I love you, oh you are my child and I love you”
-----------------------------
And I need to take these trials, and listen to what God says
I need to be refined; I need to be strengthened
These trials will teach me, they’ll teach me how to live
I want them to teach me, I want to be like Christ

JLP, read the main site.

It's a slaughter. The ISD massacres the Enterprise in less time than it takes to type this post, pretty much, and the Ent-E doesn't even scratch the ISD.

This has been done before. There's nothing crontroversial about it. The ISD is so powerful that it completely masacres te Enterprise.

Besides, I tought that the Delta Flyer was a unique ship, where would the Enterprise get 20 of them? (not that it wold make a difference)

ISDs don't use frequency dependant shields.
3) Enteprise is more manuverable, and can hit the ISD at 300,000K.*
300,000 Kelvin?! I assume you mean 300,000 KM. And please cite your source for such weapon range.
5) The Enterprise has 2x its normal loadout of Photon and Quantum torpedoes.
Where is it going to put these torpedoes? Or do you assume that Starfleet normally sends ships out with only half their maximum loadout?
Any ideas on what might happen? Any technical comments? Care to educate me on SW a little bit?
E-E has several orders of magnitude less firepower and shield power than the ISD, and gets flash-fired.

Captain, the frequency of the alien vessel's shields a-*boom*
2) The ISD has the advantage of superior firepower and rate of fire.
indeed...
3) Enteprise is more manuverable, and can hit the ISD at 300,000K.*
300,000K what? three hundred thousand degrees Kelvin? three hundred thousand thousand....something?
4) The ISD has a full complement of TIE fighters (please tell me how many that would be).
Doesn't matter. They won't even bother rousing the pilots from their bunks.
5) The Enterprise has 2x its normal loadout of Photon and Quantum torpedoes.
Just means there's more stuff in the hold to go boom when it get's blown up.

If you're implying what I think you are the answer is no, the battle will not go on nearly long enough for all those to even fire.
6) Neither ship can go to warp or hyperspace.
Okay.
7) The Enterprise has ablative armor (Defiant type).
So....it has armor that....ablates? resists ablative forces? I would certainly hope that this isn't a special consideration, since, in order to travel in space, it should have some type of ablative material in the first place, right?
8) The Enterprise has 2 squadrons of Delta Flyers. (1 squadron=10DFs)
How cute...

Any ideas on what might happen?

Yes. The ISD commander is disturbed at tea time because there is an interesting looking garbage scow of the bow of the ship. He goes to investigate, sees the ship and laughs at how silly it looks, with it's bloated saucer section. it does not respond to imperial registrations, and is hailed. again, no response.

The enterprise detecs the weapons powering up on the ISD, and begins evasive manouvers for all the good it will do. it opens fire with a full volley from photon torps, quantum torps, phasers, blah blah blah.

Aboard the ISD, the commander asks, "What was that?"
"I think it was some kind of weaponsfire, sir."
"Weapon?"
"Yes, sir."
"Hmm. curious....an armed barge....must be rebel. umm....very well. Commander!"
"Yes sir?"
"What say you? do you think we should scramble the TIE fighters?"
"For that, sir? No. the admiral would be most upset your wasting imperial resources on something like that."
"That's why you are my advisor, John. tell the deck gunners to fire at will. tell them not to use the auto-trackers. they could use some good livefire training."

5 minutes later....

"Commander!"
"Yes, sir?"
"Good show! Coffee now!"
"Right away, sir!"

Any technical comments?
technically, this has been done a million times.
Care to educate me on SW a little bit?
No.

Jean, you're not doing yourself any favors on the popularity front. This question has been beat to death dozens of times, and if you'd take the time to read the main site, you wouldn't need to ask the question. The victor would be as obvious as a mile wide billboard sign.
