What if?
What if Q was having a boring day and decided to send every single important character we have ever seen into the Imperial Navy at the same rank, prestige, etc. Ignoring bias against women and aliens, what ST characters would succeed in the SW universe, which would be executed for refusing to follow orders and slag a populated planet?
Important characters for this is anyone who appeared in more than 2 episodes, or was very important in the 1 episode they appeared in.

I don't watch ST much at all, but I can tell you this:
Wesley Crusher would get executed right off the bat.
Picard would be executed/tried for treason for refusal to bombard a populated planet.
Geordi would start going nuts from all of the advanced technology.
Worf.... Well, he'd probably disobey orders and get shot.

Why wonder why? The answer is simple: obviously, someone somewhere decided that he or she needed Baby Jesus up the ass.

Rona Danar. The guy figured out how to overload a phaser, trick the entire Enterprise security force (not such a big feat but he manages it), has special implants to evade sensors (at least Federation ones) and is genetically engineered to boot. He's a killer. In the SW verse he would be a freelancing bounty hunter. This is of course ignoring that Danar is a good guy and doesn't kill except in self defense, but oh well.

Agree on Wesley getting shot, I am sure the orders from Starfleet Command on the subject were misfiled by his mother.
You don't think Worf would do well as a stormtrooper? They are surely not the brightest of lads, wearing bright white in a jungle and all.
What about Data? He is smarter than any droid I have ever heard of, better skin job too.

Note the bold. He's not a killer, he's a soldier. There's a considerable difference.brianeyci wrote:Rona Danar. Well, Worf would get shot for incompetance for dropping his E-11 for a flint knife as soon as the opportunity came up.Locutus_8472 wrote:You don't think Worf would do well as a stormtrooper? They are surely not the brightest of lads, wearing bright white in a jungle and all.

And as for Data, Star Wars has droids like that, too. Ever heard of Guri? A Human Replica Droid, who used a droid brain with a body that was basically human. Perfect skin, bones of super-hard materials, muscles so strong they could rip out a man's heart with ease or move so fast as to be a blur, and her... reproductory organs... even worked perfectly, much to the happiness of Prince Xizor.
Why wonder why? The answer is simple: obviously, someone somewhere decided that he or she needed Baby Jesus up the ass.

I have indeed heard of her, but I think that in most ways Data is far superior. He has a greater ability to learn and adapt.Ever heard of Guri? A Human Replica Droid
How would Riker fair? He seems to have some ability to be hard if needed.
How would the mirror universe counterparts do in this scenario? They would not hesitate to destroy a planet if needed.

from what heard or Guri "she" is close to human (both physical and mental) that the only could sure she's not one is take a lightsaber and cut pieces of her. Data has never shown superior ability to learn (compared to humans), while he has shown ability absorb info fast(, but his abilties to adapt that info is bit overrated).Locutus_8472 wrote:I have indeed heard of her, but I think that in most ways Data is far superior. You must remember that Guri ain't a B1 in a human shell.

Somehow I think Lore would make a great Imperial Officer. He's charming, ruthless, and even Darth Vader could sympathize with Lore's biggest mistake -- trying to turn Data to the Dark Side. Hell, Lore'd barely have to change his uniform from "Redemption."
And screw you guys, Picard would make a great Imp. He killed his best friend just to score the dude's wife. He ignored the Prime Directive a bunch of times to keep his troops happy ("Paradise", "Pen Pals"), but in "Homeward" he was willing to let a whole race die out because saving them wasn't going to earn him any favors.
I bet those holodeck malfunctions in "Homeward" were really Picard screwing around with the controls just to frighten the natives, the sick fuck.
After Sisko's actions versus the Maquis, I'm guessing Imperial Olive Drab would be lookin' mighty fine on him, too.

There are plenty of competent Imperials. Just because Thrawn owns the others doesn't make them incompetent.Nieztchean Uber-Amoeba wrote:The only really competent commander in the Imperial Navy is Thrawn. Guri is good enough to carry on business dealings with other humans and represent Black Sun in both business and assassination and nobody ever questioned that she was human.
Data? He has no emotions, can't relate well with humans, and doesn't even look human.
The empire developes superweapon x, the feddies stumble into the rebels and are immediately accepted into their ranks. Nobody suspects anything.
Rebels tell the feddies about superweapon x, feddies agree to help. Space fight scene ensues (for no obvious reason). Rebels+feddies use a plothole to enter superweapon x and since the feddies are with them destroy it by changing the polarity of something.
I think that about wraps it up.
Now in reality the rebels+feds get stomped so hard it's funny.
Note: If I ever get stuck in the ST universe I will immediately construct a polarity changer and I will be omnipotent.

Oh gee...there are tons of people to play with...(insert DIABOLICAL LAUGHTER)...
People who I think would do well in the Empire (for no particular reason):
Kirk, Spock, Sulu, Data, Worf, Sisko, Kira, Odo, Tuvok, Seven, T'Pol, Jellico, and last but certainly not least, Garak. My god, Garak would so ROCK! And for some reason, Shran strikes me as Officer Material.
Any Cardie we've seen on screen that would fit the criteria of this topic would be okay in the imperial military (they'ed have to get Garak to tailor the necklines...lol). Same goes for the Romulans, who need no tailor.
Here's the shit list (again for no particular reason):
Most of TNG, Voyager's, and Enterpoop's senior staff not mentioned above. The reasons are stated by other posters.
I will add to the fanfare...DIE, WESLEY, DIE!!!

Garak would become a great Imperial Imtelligence Operative. WHile on the subject of DS9 i think Sisko, with the right attitude, would make a great Star Destroyer Captain.
Kirk's eithics would get the best of him and he might end up dead at the hands of someone higher up the food chain, howver he does have the evil streak seen in Tiberius. Janeway ends up as Daala's room mate in the arsehole of nowhere. Picard would be a janator. Riker would be an unemployed giggalo.

It should be noted that, outside of the 'Hall of Fame' entries, my appraisals were made on the basis of the characters being permanently transplanted. If there was hope of a 'way back' or 'way out,' ingrained Federation silliness would manifest, such as six people trying to escape from the Executor or off the Death Star.
Trekkies wishing to point out that Han, Luke, Chewie, & Ben Kenobi successfully raided the Death Star are neglecting the fact that Vader anticipated their presence and allowed them to escape. Regardless, Ben Kenobi got cut in two for an astounding 25% casualty rate (not including Leia and/or the droids).
Hall of Fame
John Gill - Federation Historian who imposed the political/military structure of Nazi Germany on the planet of Ekos (TOS: Patterns of Force). Acknowledged Nazi Germany as Earth's 'most efficient state'.
Garth of Izar - Brilliant tactician who became mentally unstable (in Federation terms) after learning shape-shifting technique. Garth's brilliance, however, was undiminished, as he also invented a powerful explosive. Sadly, the episode ended with Garth being drugged into compliance by the ever-benevolent Federation.
The Captains
James T. Kirk - While he would resist orders to pacify/destroy a planetary population, ultimately, he would do what he needed to do to survive.
Spock - Logic is not inconsistent with the Imperial mindset. Spock would do surprisingly well.
Hikaru Sulu - Sulu is a pirate at heart. He'll fit right in.
Jean-Luc Picard - Despite his more pacifistic moments, he has been shown to be quite capable in war (TNG: Best of Both Worlds, Yesterday's Enterprise).
William T. Riker - Capable, but burdened by conscience. Moody at times, occasionally unsure of himself. Could prosper, but could face a rude awakening as well.
Rachel Garrett - She'll do fine. Pushes herself to the limits.
Ben Maxwell - This guy went hunting Cardassians solely for revenge and was kicking ass and taking names. Welcome to the Empire, Captain Maxwell.
Edward Jellico - Classical military tactician. Another good prospect.
Alynna Necheyev - Able to separate the fantasy of the Prime Directive from the cold reality of defeating the Borg. Sign her up.
Benjamin Sisko - Good tactical ability, perhaps a touch too introspective.
Kathryn Janeway - Shot for being a strident bitch. (Gosh, can you tell I didn't like Voyager?)
Jonathan Archer - No opinion. (Sorry, gave up on this iteration after two episodes.)
Others of Note
Data - Capable of efficient brutality, but limited by 'ethical subroutine.' Abilities demonstrated when taking over Enterprise (TNG: Brothers) highly desirable.
Lore - While not possessed of the same 'ethical subroutine' issues as Data, Lore is far more egocentric. Still, he has the right disdain for lesser species and would do well insofar as the Empire's interests are aligned with his own.
Troi - Absolutely useless. Had issues sending a holographic Geordi to his death, even though it would save the ship. Would turn into a quivering puddle of jell-o if she met Darth Vader or the Emperor.
Worf - Idealistic and easily appealed to (TNG: The Drumhead). Would make a good stormtrooper, except for the anti-alien bias evident in the Empire. (It is not until 'Survivor's Quest' that we see an 'alien' stormtrooper.)
Wesley Crusher - Possibly shot dead faster than Kathryn Janeway.
Geordi LaForge - Recommend thorough interrogation for technical analysis/threat assessment of this 'Federation'. Can be re-educated to serve as a productive citizen of the Empire.
Dr. Beverly Crusher - We have droids who are more capable.
Harry Kim - Good recruit. With proper education/training, will excel in a support role. (Note that Harry Kim is not the original Harry Kim due to one of those parallel-universe mindscrews that Braga & Co. have an obsession with.)
Tom Paris - Excellent reflexes, recommended as TIE Pilot. Obsession with holographic fiction easily supported through holodramas.
EMH - Delete ethical subroutines. Excellent interrogation specialist.
Chakotay - Spiritual beliefs may seem too reminiscent of Jedi practices. Could get reported as Jedi sympathizer.
