Anyone else realized? May 2005: ST v. SW comes full circle?

Post by Dayfid »

There's a rift in the Universe where:

in May 2005 the socalled final chapters of the preeminent rivaling schools of sci-fi thought lead us only back to where we started...

where we all know all too well the fate of a young boy raised by foster parents is actually the the only hope for the rebellion against the Empire? where the leadership of a young precicious captain of a new Federation of planets will pave the way for generations to follow?

bizarre how each franchise has gone full-circle. the reality is May 2005 just might well be the final connectors. makes you wonder:
did we waste the last 39 or 28 years?

in light of all this, why don't all trekkies and warsies lay down their blasters and phasers and call it draw?

Wars won as soon as I saw Poe's pic of Death Star compared to Galaxy. Actually it won as soon as I read DW's site, but the pic hammers the point in better.

At least I only wasted a few days coming to that conclusion though. Seesh.

Funny how the cycle has turned.

Post by omegaLancer »

Wow just think, for all these years we had countless of Star trek series and movies and Star wars only 5. As the final movie approaches Trek's final series is destined to the cancellation and Lucas plots to bring SW to the small screen...

How the worm has turn.
Father, father when will these 8 hours ever end?

Maybe he's here to discuss the full surrender of the trekkies. Once we have that I think we can lay down our blasters.

Well, unless Episode III is our nightmare and has the following:

- "The Death Star uses a chain reaction that induces some kind of mysterious chain reaction in a planet that requires only a few megatons of firepower"

- "but the asteroids in Hoth are made of ice!"

- "We Geonosians have been building the Death Star for 25,000 years"

- " They have kilojoule-class firepower! We can't repel firepower of that magnitude!"

- "A trip of 10 light years? That'll take 200 years!"

- "A planetary shield?! That's impossible technology!"

- "Our nuclear fusion reactor is about to blow!"

And so on, and so forth ....

"Our weapons are lasers! The reason they look funny is just 'cause the manufacturers were creeps!"

"Time Travel? How could we fight that?!"

Which brings up an interesting question- what if RoTS does show Star Wars using pathetic weapons in all combat situations? What if the next trek series shows Teraton-level weapons consistently and quantifiably?

They would have to rewrite AoTC, and a whole host of other things as well.

This is the ultimate problem of this thought. What is garnered and used throughout SW, ST, B5 and every series with some objective research able to be done is that you use the whole spectrum of the series. Not using a single point and go "There!!!!!"

It's why Darkstar/Timmy Jones/and a whole host of morons are so ridiculed. Taking a single example and thinking that reflects that entire universe is the height of bias and nitpick.

Knowing the mind of Hollywood marketing Gurus, I think it was intentional. There will be a "rift" so to speak in sci-fi (I think I give Trek more credit than it deserves in this scenario) and the money-grubbing vampires see a chance to pounce.

This is where good writing needs to come into play. The last thing I want to see is a TV series like Enterpoop, which basically became a weekly string of bad excuses to have a firefight with Aliens (again, I'm generalizing here).

It's an idea that's been thrown around as far as I know...I don't know if there's been any actual work toward making it happen. I'm going to search for stuff...BBL 8)

Because the Warsies like slaughtering Trekkies just so they can watch them die.
Seriously, I don't know why anybody bothers with ST vs SW debates anymore. It's been pretty well established that a task force of SW ships could take out the entire known ST galaxy.

The date generally thrown around is Fall 2006. The question is not so much if or when, but what.

*A moving camera pans out across a blasted battlefield, littered with hundreds of dead New Republic soldiers, and thousands of dead Federation marines. The burned out hulks of armored vehicles, both Republic and Federation dot the landscape. Sporadic bursts of phaser and blaster fire are exchanged*

:::::Interior, New Republic Command Center on Alaris Prime::::::

LIEUTENNANT: The Federation ground army has broken through our first line of defense sir. Reports indicate that the Imperial Carrack due to resupply us was jumped by twenty five Soverign class starships. Looks like she was able to destroy five of them, but the rest vaped her.

DARKSIDER: Dammit! We've been holding off the Federation assault on this backass colony for three god damned years without support. Can't the Republic realize were spread to thin?

LIEUTENNANT: Sir. The second defense line has been breached. The main Federation force will enter the base soon. We must order an evacuation.

DARKSIDER: With those Feddie ships blockading the planet? Our transports would be cut to ribbons

::::A massive explosion rocks the command center::::::

INTERCOM VOICE: Federation troops have entered the base! Federation troops have entered the :::::Static::::

LIEUTENNANT: Come on sir, thats it. We have to pull back

::::::Federation marines burst into the control room, DARKSIDER, LIEUTENNANT and New Republic marines open fire, killing them::::

:::Darksider walks over to a wounded Federation Marine::::::

LIEUTENNANT: Sir. We're getting a report from some trekkies. It appears they want to know when there will be a cease fire.

DARKSIDER: Never
