Empire vs. Borg

Post by Jason von Evil »

This came to mind yesterday while I was outside walking my dog around the backyard, what if an armada of Borg cubes (regulars and tacticals) with several spheres went up against a fleet of ISDs, SSDs and those uber looking SSD IIs? The Borg would be taken on an ownage tour courtesy of the Empire, but eventually, the Borg would adapt to their weapons.

With the above stated, I quickly realized something, Mike Wong said Turbolasers released energy in the gigaton range, so the Borgs pretty green shields would have to collapse at some point.

Anyways, any comments to add to this random babbling?:P

Ahhh, welcome to the board. This is the non-poke greeting and your first warning. This topic has been done to death. The Search function is useful in this regard. If you have an interesting take on this issue, then we won't eat you. And the Borg's shields would collapse very, very quickly.

This stuff's been debated to death, unearthed, killed again, and its corpse pulled from the dirt again .... Borg lose ... badly.

Opps, sorry, didn't know. So, um...replace the Borg with 8472?

Has also been debated.... Degenerated into an argument about fluidic space, wormholes, living ships and the like. Depends on who is attacking who... ISD's and the GE have the edge on firepower, shielding, speed, and many others.

A bit too late, this is now how you started, and we remember that.

But hey, your not to blame for that, just be careful what topics you start here, you will find that people are a bit finicky about what you post.

I know.

Lay off the newb. The bottom line is that we've already debated EVERYTHING to death, and if newbies didn't come along to restart these discussions, we'd have nothing related to SW/ST to talk about.

Well...I guess that's one way of looking at it.

It has long been the position of most debaters that the Borg's adaptation is more properly termed "optimization." The Borg cannot increase the power of their shields without considerable modification to their ships, but they can and do optimize their shields and weapons to deflect and attack their enemies more effectively and efficiently, using the same amount of energy. Thus, while their shields would doubtless grow MORE effective against the Empire's weapons, they would almost certainly never be powerful enough to stop Imperial capital-ship weapons consistently.

One ISD MkII can take 9 waves of 1000 borg cubes in 2.67 minutes before it's shields go down.

It's called a fleet carrier because it can carry a very small portion of a single squadron of capital ships?

No, the Eclips are dedicated command ships/battlecruisers. There are fleet carriers, they don't have much for armorment but pack alot of fighters into their frame.

I think it was a joke. A Fleet Carrier is the name of a big carrier. But the Eclipse is litterally carring a fleet. :D

The only way I can see the Borg managing to survive any longer than that 2.67 minutes is if they had Voyager with them: I can already picture the entire Imperial fleet opening fire on Janeway at once :D
