Gary does have telekinesis. He moved a cup via his mind and turned on a sink and called the cup to his hands.
In the episode, we only seen him do somethings but it is possible he was able to create a lightsaber, very possible. he was able to see things partially before they happen, similiar to a Jedi's danger sense. this would give him the oppurtunity to block incoming strikes from Luke.
it was also rumored he was partially empathic aswell
