Most annoying Trek vs Wars arguments.

Post by T-1000 »

It seems that all Star Trek vs Star Wars arguments generally tend to follow the same path. Both sides have their own opinions of what would happen, but some are just sooooo stupid, and sooooo repeated that it gets really annoying, and after a while you just can't bear to hear the same argument over and over again.

My least favorite:

"Han Solo said that the Milenium Falcon was using "lightspeed" in ANH. Therefore, the fastest any ship in the SWU can go is only 1x."

Sensor globes = shield generators. Especially when they use the games as evidence.

turbolasers = lasers because it's in the name, and Trek ships are immune to lasers.

Spanky beat me to the "shield generators."

Also, trek turbolasers ARE lasers, despite the evidence to the contrary.

Warp strafing.

I don't know if you're gonna believe this (you probably are), but I once heard a trekkie suggest that the Federation would be able to use holograms to beat the Empire!

Another actually got so specfic as to state that all federation starbases would be outfited with holographic generators through the station, and the program would be called the "Immortal pissed-off Klingons" simulation.

I almost died laughing when I heard this.

The Laser argument...god knows how many rabid trekkies in real life I've had to ween off that one.

The senosr globe is a close second...especially given how the game reinforce it ad infintum

I take it you're refering to their immune system. At least 8472 demonstrated their weaopns abilities rather than just waxing poetic about them.

Not really a SW vs. ST but it's my favorite. The rabid Trekkie agrument of "Michael Wong is biased against ST. Just read his site and you'll see what I mean." Makes me just  and wonder how stupid can some people be.

All the Federation captain would have to do is use the warp core to powere his phasers and he would have enough energy to completly anihilate entire galaxies!!!!
No i havent been ignoring the awesome power of a Star Destroyer. Based on the LAWS OF PHYSICS, a ship that can travel FASTER than the speed of light, such as a Federation ship, would have an INFINITE amount of energy at its disposal. It therfore doesent matter what kind of power a SD has, one shot from a FED ship and its destroyed, along with the fed ship, and just about every other planet, star, asteroid, and nebula within a light year and maybee even farther than that.

The worst is usually a tie between:
Borg can adapt to anything perfectly
and
ST ships are immune to lasers.

That's a great argument. I simply love taking that one apart. Alas, no one has used it on me for some time.

The idea that the Empire is a bunch of morons, and that the Feds will win because they're supposedly smarter and have better tactics. This relies on a retarded brain bug from the OT that stormtroopers can't shoot for shit (for some reason most people can't comprehend that they LET Luke and the gang escape) and ignores the fact that the Feds are tactical morons. I feel like vomiting everytime a rabid Trekkie refers to "crack Federation commandos" as if they actually exist. Even if we are to make the ridiculous assumption that the Feds have better training and tactics, this ignores the Empire's thousand to one size, speed, industrial, or firepower advantage. No amount of logic will defeat this argument in the minds of Trekkies.
