Star Trek to become Undebateable?

Post by Uraniun235 »

We all know of Enterprise's pissing all over continuity and generally not giving two shits of one damn about quality.

Will it ever reach a point where there will be so many contradictions that any attempt to debate with the Star Trek universe would be utterly meaningless?

Granted, it would be obvious that a 200 gigaton weapon would annihilate a Federation starship; my question is aimed at "closer" debates, where the two sides are close enough where details might be important.

Much of Enterprise is already virtually undebatable, however because most of the debating occurs during the TNG and DS9 years, most of it is reasonably safe from Enterprise. It is conceivable, but unlikely, that the new show could so destroy ST continuity as to make the subject completely meaningless.

Nobody is using "Enterprise" in debates. I'd say the fanbase has already decided that it's non-canon. This is where the notion of "we let the producers decide what's canon" gets put to the test; they've pissed on continuity so badly that the fans will eventually be forced to admit that either we throw out this bastard stepchild show or allow it to turn Trek continuity into a shit-smear.

Well, it's not like the show has "Star Trek" in its title....

I don't think there's any real question as to whether Boobyprise is undebatable. It is certainly unwatchable. 8)

Another reason why it should be undebatable is that it's

1. Internally inconsistant.
2. Voyager & Overpriced are unwatchable
3. It can't be daken seriously at all.

That's not quite true. Our good friend, Mr. Anderson, has repeatedly used quotes from Enterprise to support his position. On the other hand, he is RSA.

I completely agree. As a rational-minded "trekkie", I find Enterprise to be possibly the worst endeavour in Paramount's history with Trek. Enterprise has constant continuity errors, horrible episodes, and at times, the characters act completely unrealistic; But Enterprise isn't without it's charm. There are certain episodes which are entertaining and keep my interest, but as the series progresses the attention spans of "trekkies" will decrease, and eventually disappear. It's all that Brannon Braga's fault, I tells ya!

Enterprise is undebatable, but the other, more consistent ST series aren't, so they're the ones that are used.
