Darth Vader vs. Data . . . .

Post by Yogi »

. . . in a Tennis Match!

Each side gets the exact same amount of equipment. Darth Vader may not use the Force to affect the ball, the court, or his opponent.

Darth Vader's Advantages:
Force Precog, allows him to know where the ball is going to be
Super Strength, allows him to strike the ball with great strength
Blaster deflecting expirience, has deflected blaster bolts before

Darth Vader's Disadvantages:
Slow, we never see him really hustle in that suit of his.

Data's Advantages:
Super computer, will help him track the ball and predict where it will go (though it is not exact). Will also help him control where it goes when he hits it back
Super Strength, allows him to whallop the ball, probably harder than Vader can

Data's Disadvantages:
Expirience, we never see him play tennis before.

So, who takes it?

Data easily. He's a fucking robot, while Vader is a cripple.
Howedar is no longer here. Need to talk to him? Talk to Pick.

Vader isn't a cripple- it's not like he has trouble walking, jumping, choking, fighting etc.

As for a tennis match, Vader wins by default. Data gets him out on the first serve, Vader promptly hurls his lightsabre at him and Data ends up being half the android he used to be.

Vader, he takes one look at Data, then his rackett, back at Data. Then, he tosses the rackett away, whips out his lightsaber and slices Data up.

If Vader plays fair...

Then Data has a good chance. The precognition isn't very long range, say a second or so. I don't think Vader is fast enough to be able to defend the whole court area within a second. If we assume Data has the ability to place the ball's trajectory pretty much wherever he wished, then it should be possible to place the ball in a "no-failure" zone, where Vader simply won't be able to get to it physically fast enough.

Data might even have a chance in dodgeball. He only needs to track one known target, rather than blaster bolts coming out of everywhere, and the trajectory of an incoming ball is relatively predictable. He should be able to catch most balls and fling them back at Vader. Whether Vader tires and makes a mistake (I'm sure even a Force-user has SOME limits) or the laws of probability dictate Data screws up first will likely be the factor. But I digress.

Guess that teaches me not to treat an obvious joke thread as such. Clearly, when the Empire and Federation decide to settle their differences on the tennis court, we know that Star Trek will win

What an asshole.

Did I ask a question? Yes.
Did any of you respond to that question with anything approaching logical arguments? No.
Do I get to mock stupidity whenever I see it? Yes.

Please, stuff many times harsher than this gets thrown around on a regular basis. I know you can take it, so stop pretending I made some huge horrible personal affront.

Oh stop bullshitting...

Your argument is to go okay for one second let's say they have to engage in a sports match using but Vader cannot use certain powers because doing so would make him the winner.

So without these usage of his power(even though it's a weapon and your are wanting him to enter battle with two hands behind his back)...who would win.

I say Vader because he would still cheat...and why, because he wants to win and doesn't really care how he does it.

Wants 'logical arguments' on a thread that only couldn't be a joke thread if the guy who made it has a serious STICK UP HIS ASS. What kind of asshole says concession accepted on a thread involving a fricking sports match.

Vader selects John McEnroe as his teammate, finds out there is still much to learn about Anger and Rage.

What makes you think Vader would cheat? Just because he altered a deal that he made with a known con artist? Lando should be so lucky............

As long as vader doesn't inhibit data's ability to move; I think data would win.

Could Vader use the Force to affect himself?, he could make himself get around the court much easier.

The trick is while Vader playing fair, Palpy manipulates the flight of the ball from the crowd...

yes notice as Anakin he was able to jump up high and all that Jedi stuff I did see him jump control like. if he is allowed to use this force abilty then yes he would however if he is not then Data shouldn't be able to use his eyes.

Vader

Post by KrauserKrauser »

Vader throws the racket at Jar Jar (He's the ball boy right?) killing him.

Then lets Data serve.

Data tries to hit the ball but realizes too late that Vader is evil and will always cheat when possible.

Vader then rips off Data arms (using the force of course) and beats Data into small manageable parts.

Which he then uses to assemble flashing sign saying "Wars is the win!"

It seemed funny when I wrote it

The rules didn't say he couldn't so sure he can try to use Force Speed on himself (for as long as he can).

Well if that's the case, then Vader will win. Jedi speed, although temporary, is nothing to laugh at. That, combined with precog, means Vader will win.

OK, so Vader can't use the force on the ball, court, or opponent:

Vader sits in a chair and uses the force to move the racket around the court. Advantage: Vader.
