wow, the star destroyer

Post by porkboy696 »

 wow, i just saw nemesis, and the schimitar is a very powerful ship, i always thought a star destroyer would have a tough time with a romulan warbird (which is almost the same size as a ISD) and the enterprise, but there is no way a ISD could even take the schimitar. the cloak, 50 disruptor cannons, 2 dozen torpedo bays, a backup shield system, damn, what do u think of a star destroyer vs. schimitar, i say schimitar by a whole lot.

Welcome Newbie, now "POKE."

You probably should have posted this to the Nemesis Board.

While the Schimtar is an impressive vessel for Star Trek but would be destroyed very quickly by an ISD.

ISD have 12 main guns in the high Gigaton range and 120 light guns in the Megaton range. Also has 72 fighters to use against opponents.

read Lord Wong's site and be enlighted.

*chucks egg* Welcome, mortal fool. And just so you know, ST ships don't stand a chance against SW ships. AOTC is proof of that, where a single one of Jango Fett's seismic charges slices apart multiple multi-km asteroids. Just one.

So you don't have time to give a newbie a break or even a counterarguement, but you do have the time to monitor a topic and insult a newbie?

Instead of wasting both your time and the newbie's, why not let those who can "enlighten" him/her with a polite responses jump in?

He completly ignored the whole site. If he said "Star Trek can beat the Asgard!" Or "Battlestar Galatica is a match for an ISD!" It wouldn't be as bad.

ABout the logo. I think the problem with it is that it looks too much like a title and not a link to MW's site. If i was a newb i would almost certanly think it was the name tag for the boards.

Check the site, JESUS! If you want some quick calcs, go to the home page, go to essays, and read "Star Wars vs Star Trek in five minutes" a short but very comprehensive look at how much more powerful SW is than ST.

It's powerful relative to STAR TREK. Next to Star Wars ships, that means nothing. Just to give you an idea of how much more powerful an ISD is than anything in ST, ONE ISD can destroy more than one thousand Borg cubes without having its shields defeated during the engagement. There is no way that the Scimitar could take on 1000 Borg cubes. Therefore, the ISD is more powerful than the Scimitar.

I get what you're on about, I had a similair shock when I first came here. The fact the other vessels damaged by the Scimitar are supposed to be powerful is kinda down scaled, eg: nowadays we consider Jets to be powerful. But then throw the Defiant against them, you get a rough idea.

Oh wow, it beat 3 powerful vessels, big whoop, one ISD could take out the entire Federation, Klingon Empire, Romulan Star Empire, Dominion and Cardassian Unions, all in ONE battle! Oh and calling us geeks isn't a good idea, it will only bring flames and a nice Village Idiot title.

wow, i just read the "star wars vs. star trek in five minutes" very interesting, now are all those facts about megawats and 3.5 jouldsfaggots or whatever concrete published facts? have both the star trek universe and the star wars universe come out with those facts? that was real interesting.

Friend in these sci-fi universes "concrete" facts about such things are non-exsistent. We know more basic things like DS can kill a planet, and warp is obviously slower than hyperdrive. The rest is up to us to figure out. Enter official literature, while not canon per se, it is a worthy substitute.

And I do believe there is a section in there wear Mr. Wong only uses movie examples and derives his own calcs. So at least those will be roughy accurate.

i thought so, thank u sir. i knew those facts couldn't have been true, i mean, i saw return of the jedi, and that tiny little a-wing ship rammed the bridge of that larger star destroyer, and destroyed it. if the shields are as powerful as that article said, it shouda stopped it. well, thanks for clearing that up. i say schimitar wins but not by a whole lot.

Actually the shields were brought down by a concentrated fire from the Rebel fleet. That is why the A-Wing was able to ram the bridge of the Executor.

really? u know what? i saw the empire hits back, and in that one, i remember a scene where there is a big fleet of star destroyers is going thru an asteroid field, and one hits a star destroyer and destroys the top part of it? anyone else remember that? i don't think it was damaged by "concentrated rebel fire", so with those powerful shields that are like 70 trillion zw's, shouldn't it have reflected it or something? just a little confusing, well, thanks

You misunderstand, friend. If we were to, say, scale down a Death Star superlaser at its bare minumum, you would still have a couple billion gigajoules of energy behind those shots. From what we've seen of Trek, that would be insanley impressive.
