I read in the annonated script of Nemesis that Rick Berman had some sort of tiff with Avery Brooks, does anyone have any details?

I don't know all the details , but being a capable and classically trained actor , Brooks gave Berman no end to shit over scripts for DS9 that were shoddy, he was the original Robert Beltran , but far far worse.

He must have been yelling every other week at least. Is that why Sisko had to go away at the end of DS9? I think him being gone would'v ekept him out of Nemesis anyway wouldn't it? If i;m wrong about him being on some journey though feel free to correct, for there is no shame in being somewhat ignorant of DS9 plots.

Aside from the whole "Emissary" thing he was one of the DS9 characters I didn't mind. Better background story than any other ST character I think except Kirk.

-Dr Roberts, with quite possibly the dumbest thing ever said in 10 years of SDNet.

Nope, when last we saw Captain Sisko he was "One with the Prophets". Even in the post show novels he's still there although there seems to be some progress being made. :)

Avery Brooks a "capable and classically trained actor"? You must be joking. Knashing his teeth and putting a period after every word is acting now?

Brooks was one of the strongest actors within Trek. He injected passion into the role, and it doesn't surprise me to learn he would have challenged B&B at some stage. Or perhaps many stages.

"One with the prophets"

Another example of ST ripping off SW.

I'd bet a large amount of money that B+B got that particular idea from SW characters becoming one with the Force. And so the cads decided to copy it.

Yeah GL came up with that idea didn't he, I also wonder how he came up with that Virgin birth idea - that was pure gold  .

He went to live in the Prophets dimension but I dont believe he became "one" with them since they are seperate beings.

Personally I think GL should've left that whole virgin birth crap well alone. In fact, he would've been better served with having a Episode 1 have a 15 year old Anakin rather than a little snot who can't act.

Personally as far as Avery Brooks acting skills go i rather liked him. The two hollywood movies i saw him in, The Big Hit and that movie with Ed Norton about the Nazi's. Ok maybe he was a wee bit over dramatic but he put some emphasis back on character rather than SFX which is something Star Trek needs more off.

And not even nearly at all like "Sleeping in Light" at all. No...

Anyway, it wasn't Beavis & Butthead in charge on DS9, Rick Berman shared the role with Michael Piller and Ira Stephen Behr. Braga didn't get a look in, and Berman only wrote three episodes.
