OMG, look at the post crossover_maniac made:

Personally I think this is one of those times that we ought to go there and educate people on the laws of physics.

I'm not sure that the "laws of physics" are universal. I mean, they've theorised (and proved) that time moves at different relative rates for different relative positions in our universe.

Suppose that could mean that other things scientists here take for granted may be (alarmingly) different in different parts of our universe.

And as for other universes/galaxies, there could be all sorts of weirdness happening. Perhaps power cells (batteries) may store much more energy than our cells here, which could allow things like hand-held blasters to exist elsewhere...?

Someone will be with you shortly, and yes, it'll probably hurt

That would make a debate of any kind absoultely pointless. In order to have any sort of intelligent comparison we have to assume universal laws of physics, otherwise we are just pulling numbers out of thin air.

Thank You, and pulling numbers out of thin air leads to fanboys yelling "Did Not"/"Did Too"/"Did not infinity"

Don't be defensive. I wasn't actually attacking you.

I was just adding my own thoughts to the topic. Who actually knows what goes on outside our universe?

Hmmm... all this has made me explore. Check the following URL, paying attention to the uniformity principle

http://www.alcyone.com/max/physics/laws/u.html

It would appear that general consensus is that everything everywhere is uniform, whereas "the ancients" believed that laws were independent from this world to another.

This board is a comparison of Star Wars and Star Trek, and obviously requires that they observe identical laws.

In my defence: D'Oh!! :x

Anyway, I know Santa Clause doesn't exist. The tooth fairy told me.
