Not sure if it's been mentioned elsewhere on the boards, but the Smoking Gun apparently managed to snag a copy of a "secret" report by Army Maj. Gen. Antonio M. Taguba on the investigation of the 800th Military Police Brigade assigned to Abu Ghraib prison detailing abuses there.

Well...it looks authentic. Don’t know though. If it is real, they could get in legal trouble for publishing “Secret” government/military documents

Simple solution to get out of this mess -
1. the administration needs to move fast and with a grand gesture.
2. All prisoners at Abu Graib should be documented and then paroled, on condition that if they are caught again, they will NTO be treated as combatants. Failing this, disperse them to other camps.
3. Let the engineeers move in and demolish the building in as big and grand an explosion as possible, ensuring that it is fully covered by the Arabic Press. The desicion to use such an infamous building in the first place was the height of stupidity.

This is the sort of symbolism peopel will understand, without having to change much in other policy. It could also save Rumsfeld his job.

Wishful in that it might owrk or that the Us command will do it in time. CENTCOM are a bit dim at times.

BTW

The word I hear through semi-offical/in the know area claim that this report HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED OFFCIALY and is STILL CONSIDERED CLASIFIED!! Heads are going to roll for this, if true.
