Your original claim was that “Fascists are actually leftist” not National Socialists who are economically to the left of most other fascists. Either way you are wrong neither Fascists nor Nazis are “leftist”
Hitler took his ques from Benito, National socialism is a form of fascism
A form of fascism certainly but one of the more economically left wing variants, just pointing out that you modified your statement to try and help your argument.
Every Jewish citizen, in both germany AND Italy. Also, it would confiscate property from dissidents. WHile the motivations are different from a classical leftist, the government control over individual property puts them squarly in the left.
I thought you meant the Jews, which just shows that you are grasping at straws. You are no doubt aware that the Nazi’s didn’t just confiscate Jewish, other minorities and dissidents property they also variously made them wear identifying marks, confined them to ghettos, put them in slave labour and concentration camps and ultimately killed many of them. In short you are not describing an economic policy but the economic aspects of a general policy of persecution
Oh you mean the large privately owned, profit making industries
They made a profit yes, but they did not have control over their production.
So they were privately owned and made profits remind me again how exactly was Nazi economic policy left wing?
When I referto right/Left I refer only to economic policy.
This was in now way apparent from your initial statement and in case you’re wrong as Fascists in general and the Nazi in particular are on the right of most economic scales, apart from yours obviously.

Speaking of whether Hitler was a leftist... well, he's not leftist in the modern definition of the word.

However, The Third Reich did pioneer legislation designed to protect the environment. (hence the often-parodied statement "Hitler was an environmentalist")

And etymologically, National Socialism just means a mixture of Nationalism and Socialism.

Nationalism is a political ideology where the state's highest priority is to secure the sovereignty of the nation it governs, and socialism just refers to a regulated market. Both things applied to the policies of the Third Reich, hence - National Socialism.

BTW - though I consider myself a quasi-nihilist (I don't have the sheer mental discipline and capability for clear thinking required to be an actual nihilist), I got...

So, how would the Japanese keiratsu system be described? It seems to tie government and business together very closely... would it be a more socialist system or what?
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

I voted somewhat left.

I believe when I did the political compass thing I got somewhere around -5 for both. maybe that's more extreme leftism? I voted only somewhat because I go to uni and wouldn't EVER want to be associated with the "real" lefties *shudder*

Quite to the Right Wing, just as I thought. Though I am actually a little bit more authoritarian than I had thought I would be.

I voted for "somewhat left," but I took the Political Compass test, and I came out much more left than I thought I was: Economic Left -4.38, and Social Libertarian -6.36. I'm in the quadrant with Nelson Mandela, Dalai Lama and Gandhi.

But, my views are pretty much hard core social leftist (I think the Government should have very very little say in morality, and making morality laws).

My scores:

Economic Left/Right: 6.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.72

That puts me pretty conservative economically, and slightly libertarian socially.

This is interesting; none of the world leaders depicted are right-libertarian. The vast majority are right-authoritarian, with some left-libertarian and right-libertarian. The only person shown who is politically on a similar 'wing' is economist Milton Friedman. One more reason to like the guy.
