Wrong-o, Axi. Alot of that spending was pure pork barrel, not mere war time spending. Give me a bit to dig up the link that was posted before, but you can't merely peg the fact that the rate of national spending has skyrocketed under the Bush Administration on the "War"
You do that. I’m interested to see this link of yours contending that it’s pork barrel spending, not the War on Terror, that’s consuming so much of our national budget and surplus. Or, more precisely, I’m interested in the good laugh this spit in the bucket is sure to induce.
"let international pressure force him to turn around"? You act like getting forced down after making a dumb ass move is somehow brilliant. How about not make such a rediculous tariff in the first place?
Kerry won’t be able to combat anti-Americanism at its roots. Bush may grate more than most, but it is American power, not the American leadership, that produces so much hatred and resentment. The workings of September 11th and the collapse of America’s image in the Arab world began long before the 2000 election, and anger at “imperial America” will continue long after the one in 2004, no matter the outcome. Even if we elected an isolationist in November, we’d still generate plenty of violence and encourage plenty of “blow-back” around the globe. It’s the nature of the elephant, whether or not the policies are ignorant and shortsighted, or carefully controlled.
And as for that last part about protection, I think you know what you can do with that. But I suppose you’ll pull some crap out of thin air about how it’s okay to make the same mistake twice (which is essentially what Kerry has pledged to do, if elected), as long as your name isn’t George W., hm? Let me remind you that Clinton played a similar game to Bush when it came to unappealing treaties: he favored them with public encouragement, then let a willing Congress shoot them down as he stood back from the fray reasonably sure of having done all he could for special interests. The Republicans have done the same. Kerry’s Democrats, on the other hand, are going to try and “fight the good fight” on their own – that is, they plan to beat their heads against the wall in the name of unions whose jobs they won’t save at the cost of tens of billions to the U.S. taxpayer. We don’t need subsidies. What we need to do is let uncompetitive manufacturing die so that we can put the money we save by buying cheaper products into more productive ventures here at home.
Don't confuse Axi, you'll only stress him out
"Me, too syndrome" got you down, Sheppard?
Somebody hold him back and call him killer!
