The Liberty Dollar Bill Act
Moderators: Alyrium Denryle, Edi, K. A. Pital
For I dipt into the future, far as human eye could see,
Saw the Vision of the world, and all the wonder that would be;
Saw the heavens fill with commerce, argosies of magic sails,
Pilots of the purple twilight dropping down with costly bales;
Heard the heavens fill with shouting, and there rain'd a ghastly dew
From the nations' airy navies grappling in the central blue;
Saw the Vision of the world, and all the wonder that would be;
Saw the heavens fill with commerce, argosies of magic sails,
Pilots of the purple twilight dropping down with costly bales;
Heard the heavens fill with shouting, and there rain'd a ghastly dew
From the nations' airy navies grappling in the central blue;

No moron, it was inserted in 1954, and is unconstitutional because it patently violated the first amendment.Talon Karrde wrote:Just curious, but I'm guessing that In God We Trust has been on our bill since the beginning of this country? Maybe I'm mistaken. And yes, it's not in the constitution, but just because something isn't there doesn't mean we can't do it.Iceberg wrote:My suggestion would be to remove "In God We Trust" from the back of the bill, for the precise reason that it's not in the Constitution. Perhaps replace it with "We the People of the United States"?

Hey asshat, we dont live in a democracy. We live in a constitutional republic. Keyword is Constitutional. You see, what the majority wants doesnt matter, if it violates the constitution. And yes, eople that dont understand that, are idiots.Talon Karrde wrote:Lol... well, good, then I'd venture to guess about 75% of Americans are idiots then, considering I believe about that amount would want it to stay.Darth Wong wrote:Why yes, since it's a violation of the establishment clause when a government uses its official coinage to promote the concept of monotheism.Talon Karrde wrote: Your kidding me right. I'm an idiot now because I believe "In God We Trust" should stay on our currency?Very eloquent rebuttalDear God.
This I don't understand Darth... anytime an opinion differs with yours or liberal policies, the opposition is immediately branded as idiots.

We arent a democracy you toad licking son of a whore. We are a republic. And the laws in this country are bound to comply with a constitution, In God we Trust, does not comply with the 1st amendment to the constitution, it is therfore illegal, no matter how many people vote for it.Talon Karrde wrote:Darth, what you seem to never acknowledge is the fact that in a democracy popular rule is what detirmines the laws.
WHat you beeive is irrelevant considering that they are not given the power to do so by the constitution. in fact, the constitution EXPRESSLY forbids it.I'm not taking away your right to an opinion on this matter, Im just pointing out it's funny because I believe congress has the right to put this on our currency I'm immediately called an idiot, as in every other conversation. Instead of calling me this, and it wasn't you Darth, just simply express your disagreement and debate it.
God is a proper name. It was also ooriginally intended tomean Jehovah if you read the debates on the matter. Secondly FIRST AMENDMENT, you know, the one that separates church and state. In court case after court case, government endorsements of religion have been stricken down. If you read the writings of James Madison, he HATED the ide of government endorsements of religion, down to the idea of congressional and military champlains and he WROTE the bill of rights.How does "In God We Trust," state our governments promotion of monotheism? People can interpret this statement anyway they choose. Muslims can believe in Allah, Hindus can believe in whatever they believe, and so on and so forth. I assume you think "God" refers to ONE god, thus, it's monotheism. Would you rather have it say, "It all Gods we trust?" Probably not. I assume that you'd obviously rather have it stricken altogether. But here's the question I pose, why is it that any reference to the supernatural must be stricken from our currency and other government activities? If you don't agree with it, how does it hurt you?
It hurts ME because tax dollars are used to print that money, and I am forced to use it if I want to buy things. I pay for it to be minted, so I am paying for someone elses religion, and I am forced de facto to acknowledge a non-exstent god whenever I dont cross out the line on my currency.
