Vanunu Arrested by Israeli police
The Israeli former nuclear technician Mordechai Vanunu, released in April after 18 years in jail, has been re-arrested, police say.

He was seized by armed officers and is being held on suspicion of passing on classified information, police say. Vanunu was convicted of treason over his disclosures about Israel's nuclear weapons programme and jailed in 1986. Strict conditions were imposed on him after release, including a ban on giving interviews to foreign media.

You think they could have waited until he left the church? It's not like he's a crimnal mastermind or anything.

Agreed. Eating breakfast, in the courtyard, and then 2 squads of black clad dudes in kelvar, Uzis and P90s (or whatever the Israeli's use...?) come in and tell you to get the fuck on your stomach and hands behind you head...

I just did some digging. The most probable reason to why he was taken into interrogation was because he was not supposed to get out of less than 1km radius of the church, or talk to foreigners - which he did (at least the talking foreigners).

In the past 4 months Vanunu has been talking to:

- BBC
- ABC (Australian Broadcasting Cooporation)
- SBS
- Channel WIN 9 (commercialised channel run by Packer)

And that is just for Australia -- except for the BBC of course (maybe even SBS)...

Although he wasn't supposed to open his mouth any more than he had, but it is still his human right to voice his opinions. But of course with US backing, no country would dare question this violation.
