It's four days old and I didn't find anything during the search.

U.S. Postal Service wants price hike
Report: Stamp prices could rise at least 10% in 2006

NEW YORK - The U.S. Postal Service is set to ask early next year for a rise in postage stamp prices of at least 10 percent, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

The increase — expected to take effect in early 2006 — would be the fourth round of price hikes in recent years and lead to a first-class stamp costing at least 41 cents, up from 37 cents currently, the paper said.

The USPS was already planning to file for an increase next year, but the requested rise will probably be in the double digits because Congressional passage of proposed legislation overhauling the postal system is unlikely, the Journal said.

The postal bill would enable the post office to benefit from about $3 billion a year in pension-fund savings and streamline the rate-setting process, which can last for nearly a year, the newspaper reported.

A new rate rise could also drive customers to pay bills via the Internet and to use competitors such as United Parcel Service Inc., the world’s largest package carrier, to send packages, according to the Journal.

Sheesh, the PO should focus on what they're really making money on and its packages. The only way to make people happy at the PO is to make the line go quicker which means teller slots should all be filled not partially with two or three out of six or so at any given time of the day. I hate it when they don't fully staff the tellers. Especially when it is busy with twenty to FOURTY people on the line.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

I would be more happy if they just rounded the damn stamp to something divisible by 5 cents. I hate not having that extra penny on me and I hate getting even more pennies when I get my damn change. And I agree, the Post Office needs to focus more on making their customers happy and less on hiking up the prices of their stamps. That's why you see more and more people going to other services because they provide service. People will always continue to use the Post Office, so money isn't a problem; the problem lies in their quality of service.

Is there any talk anymore about privitizing the entire thing and just letting companies deliver the mail since they can already deliver packages?
